We had an "over 50 Forum" gathering at our home last weekend. What a great time. Sandy posted the photos her husband took and thought some of you might like to see them too:

Mary,
You look absolutely wonderful.... so happy and healthy! It looks like everyone was having a great time. You are the hostess with the mostess! And your home is breathtaking! I can see now why you were so excited and couldn't wait to get into it. It is simply beautiful both inside and out. I know you, Hal and Millie feel like you're in heaven!
Thanks for sharing the photos. I enjoyed looking at them.

I also went to look at the pictures. The house and pool look great...I'm so glad you like it there. And it looked like you were having a wonderful time. How awesome is it that you moved quite a distance, and still have found yourself a great group of friends so quickly? Of course, it helps when you're nice yourself!!!! (You look great, BTW!).
We're talking about putting in a pool, but trying to decide if we want to downsize first so right now we're house hunting. The way it's looking, we may wind up staying where we're at after all. I'm thinking maybe the pool next summer. Can't wait!

Julie,
Thank you. We had such a good time and so much fun.
I think if I lived in a colder region and was building a pool, that I would put in a swimspa instead of a pool. Here we can use our pool about 6 months of the year, but would love to use it year round. Our pool is 3 1/2 feet to 5 feet deep. It has 12,000 gallons of water in it. They told us to heat it in the winter (gas heater) would cost approximately $400 a month!!!! That's way out of my budget for sure. A swimspa (narrower and not as long) is where you can swim against a current. It is 4 feet deep so the right depth to do water aerobics etc. They are suppose to be cheaper to run etc. Be sure to double check on type of heating for the pool or swimspa ... gas is much more affordable than electric and some people swear by the solar heating systems. There are some great pool information magazines like: Pool & Spa Living magazine. I got my first copy at a Barnes & Noble store and now subscribe. It doesn't come out every month -- new issue is out now.
Good luck in your house hunting and/or pool building.

Linn,
Our home in CA was 44 years old. We did a lot of changes in the 18+ years we lived there. Never in our wildest dreams did I ever imagine owning a new home with a pool. Cost of living is so much less here than in CA, such a blessing.
I think no matter where we live or how old the house, we can always make it a "home".
