Good evening February family, On my 11 month anniversary I was 2 pounds from goal (goal being 125 pounds). I panicked because I was terrified of maintenance. In the last 20 years I've lost 130 pounds 3 times and of course couldn't maintain. I was so stressed that I started grazing with my "enemy carbs" and found myself at 132 pounds on my Ist anniversary. I was devastated I had gained that month. I was doing a lot of negative self talk. Five pounds isn't a lot but to me it signalled the dreaded "failure". I had a hard time getting back on track. I didn't know how. By the time I first read Joanne's post on her drastic liquid diet to get back on track, I weighed 140.4 pounds. Anyway, I was following Joanne's liquid diet as she has posted. It's hard to get back to basics so it took a few days to get started. I started on Feb 16. Along with my 64oz water, and supplements I had daily: B: double protein shake made with carb countdown S: carb countdown yogurt L: double protein shake made with carb coutdown S: carb countdown yogurt This morning after Day 6 I could not believe the scale - I got on and off 3 times. I not only lost all the weight I gained but I also made my GOAL. I lost 15 pounds and now weigh 125. I'm feeling hopeful that I'll be able to maintain, and if I fall I'll pull myself up - right away - and do this diet again when needed. I do not want to ever weigh 299 pounds again. I have lost 174 pounds (94 since surgery). God willing they will stay lost. Joanne, you have no idea how you have affected my life. I'm sure God was working through you to help me learn a lesson on self-worth. I can cope with the ups and downs of maintenance and I AM NOT A FAILURE. OK, I'll quit my rambling. Thank you for reading this. Paula

Hi Jill, A double protein shake is 2 scoops of powder instead of one. Take Champion Whey Stack in chocolate for example. Each scoop is 23 grams of protein. So 2 scoops would give me 46 grams. Add the 12 grams of protein for 8oz of carb countdown beverage and I end up with 58 grams in my morning and lunch shakes. I don't know how much of the protein my body absorbs but I was satisfied all morning and afternoon with them. There are several places to get protein powder on line and at GNC. The carb coundown beverage can be found in the milk case at your grocery store. Did I answer your questions? Thanks for responding. Paula

Paula, I'm so happy for you!. One question.... did you not have anything in the evenings? I think I'm going to try this also and see if I can get myself jump started again. You are definitely a success and an inspiration! Wanda 256/178/145

Hi Wanda, Thank you for your kind words. No I didn't have anything to eat in the evenings. This was really strict which is what I needed at the time to pull me back on track. I would never be able to maintain that schedule for an extended period of time. It was very low calorie with less than 700 calories per day. I thought a few days is fine for me. Paula

Awww Paula. I am sooooo happy for you! See, you can do it! Now I ended up, just as easily, putting 5 back on but I just went to liquids again yesterday and I am down 3. So 2 more to go to my all time low and 25 more to go for my personal goal. Once you start the liquid diet, it is easy to do. The first 2 days are the hardest. So once in a while I add in food. Like today I had 1 slice of deli roast beef as a snack. And a Carbwell protein bar as another. Here is another thing that helps a lot.... I eat sugar free jello all the time, and popsicles. Thery help me get a taste and minimal calories. I just hopped on now and saw this. I wasn't ignoring you. Been trying to get some things straightened out here. One being a job that I am trying to look for. Well, back to monster, hotjobs, etc. Again, I am very happy for you. If you guys need me for anything, drop me an email. Joanne
