my surgeon didn't really set a goal. the "normal" standard for my age and height was 161 but i had a personal goal of 135 to 140 at 5'6". My highest weight 2 months prior to surgery was 301. By using slimfast I lost 20 pounds and was 281 the day of surgery. I now weigh 149/150 for a total loss of 151/152 pounds since Feb 04. I hit a plateau around month 8/9 that lasted almost 8 weeks. I finally evaluated what i was (or wasn't) eating and added 2 protein shakes back in my daily schedule. The weight started dropping again. I am in a size 8 and some 10s so am thrilled with that but really would like to get to around 140 which i think is the expected AMA point.

Hi Kelly! I was reading your post and I was wondering if you added your 2 protein shakes in place of meals or along with your 3 meals a day. I'm struggling right now and having a hard time getting this weight to start dropping off again. I'm at 217 and have a goal of 150... that's a total of 67lbs more to go. I know I can do this, though I wi**** was as easy for me as it seems to be for others! Oh well, I just know that I want to accomplish this goal!! Thanks for your help! Milissa

Hi, I was 315 pre op and 270 by surgery. I am now 187 with a total loss of 127 lbs. I wear a size 14 now and have not lost any weight for two months. I'd love to loose another 30 lbs but if it's not in the cards I'll stay here. I did gain 4-5 lbs over Christmas that I have lost almost all of. I do not count that as loosing since I gained it I have two plastic surgeries planned one for March 11th for a hernia repair and tummy tuck which will take off some pounds and my brachioplasty is planned for three months later. Those will take of maybe 10-15 pounds. Perhaps I am on a plateau or I have leveled off. We are supposed to loose into the second year or at least "they" say we will.

Hello Everyone, Long Time no posting I know but my LIFE has started happending and it is wonderful! My high weight was 326. I lost 14 lbs before surgery so was down to 312 and now flucuate between 168 and 170 for a loss of 158lbs from high weight. I have had problems with not losing but I think it was because for almost 6 weeks I had no protein shakes. I have now started drinking at least 2 a day and they are staying down so that is a good thing. My surgeon doesn't set goals but I want to get to 120 lbs. I am 5'2" and according to the BMI chart for the CDC that is "normal" weight for my height. However, if I don't lose but another "3" lbs I am happy. I have lost a person and will forever be greatful to the tool that was afforded me. Hugs Noelle Gaspard 326/168 (today who knows about tomorrow)/120 02/24/04

I have slowed way down in the last few monthes. I never thought in a million years I would still have to fight to get this weight off. I am 5'5 and 1 lb away from my Dr.'s goal of 130 for me. I want to get to 125 and use the 130 as my danger better hit the gym weight. BUT I am having such a hard time getting to 130 as it is... I slowed way down in August. IT has taken me about 7 months to go from 145 to where I am now. I am happy with where I am but I dont want to ever feel like I am "done" because I dont want to stop dieting or exercising... Good luck to you.
