Surgery: 2/27/04 Start Weight: 347 Right Now, 1/1/05 Current Weight: 250 Goal Weight: Between 160 and 180 Lost: 97 lbs - 3 to go for the century club!!! My weight loss has been a bit slower, but I stalled majorly from months 2-5; I also know that my exercise hasn't 100% been where it's supposed to be, and because of class & work schedule this past semester (4 days a week, out from before 8 am until at least 11pm), I haven't made the best food choices possible, but have tried to keep things as sensible as possible all things considered. Since surgery: 1. No diabetic medication at all (was on 1500mg glucophage & 20mg Actos pre-op). 2. 1/2 the bp medication (just the avapro 150 now, Hydrochlorothiazide is d/c) 3. A1Cs have been < 6.0 (5.3 at 3 mos, 5.5 at 6 mos; don't have 9 mo reading (oops! ) but my FBG has been < 100 still when I check it). 4. With the exception of this past week (stomach bug (yes, you can still possibly throw up after this surgery from other than overeating, but it's rare ) and this cold/bronchitis I'm fighting), I feel 9000% better overall. 5. To date, I've been off protonix which I was on pre-op; I may need to go back on it, because I don't think I'll be able to give up my coffee and I think it is starting to make Mr Pouch a wee bit touchy. Think that's it. ....Nick

Renee, Nice to hear from you again. Here are my answers. SURGERY 2/17/04 START WEIGHT: 241 RIGHT NOW, 1/3/05: 147 GOAL FOR THIS YEAR: 135? My goal initially was to be at "ideal" but I'm not sure that will happen. My next purchase is going to be a body fat % scale. I wear size 6 jeans and S/M tops and am having a hard time believing I'm not in the normal body fat range even though I'm still so heavy. My goal may change when I find out how 'fat' I really still am. I'm also considering some PS, but won't do it until I find out for sure if my sister is going to be able to carry a baby to term. She's asked me to be a surrogate in case she continues to have trouble, and I won't do any PS before I find out about that. The next goal (after my half-marathon this Sunday) is to do a triathlon this summer, so pretty soon I'm going to get my butt into the pool. Linn

I agree that it's tough to think that you're not in the normal body fat range. At the same height, I wear size 10 slacks and a S/M top so you're even thinner than I am. I had a body composition test done at the YMCA last night, and I'm not sure it came out correctly as it indicated that I still have 48.8% body fat. Is that even possible when I only weigh 150 lbs? I know I don't have much muscle, but still that much fat? Anyone else ever had one? Julie

Surgery Date - 2/27/2004 Highest Weight - 3/2/1999 - 475 lbs Surgery Weight - 365 lbs Right Now - 265 - "Finally" entered the century club this AM Goal - 138/155 depending on how I look/feel LOSS TO DATE - 210 lbs It's been very hard for me emotionally at times during the post surgery journey. I have followed all the rules very well (not perfect tho), I exercise and still have a "very" slow weight loss. However, I have come to terms with it more now and as long as I know I can get there then I'll be happy. I give myself at this point the full 2 years from the date of my surgery to get to my goal. I have been very fortunate and have had no complications. Great job everyone and I wish you all & myself continued success.
