HELP~~~~~~~~~~
I know the holidays are norotious for lots of food. And with my wedding it was 10x's worse. But in the last 2 weeks I have GAINED 6LBS!!!! And it is no****er weight. Nor is it my time of the month. I have been eating a lot of carbs cause my STUPID way of thinking was, hey, it's the holidays, it's my wedding, I can cheat just this time and then go back to dieting after all is over with. Well my body hates carbs and it shows. I gain so easily when I ave carbs. I haven't heard anyone complain about gaining this holidays season. Am I the only one??????????
Yesterday I started back with protein. I have been so bad with my protein and water. Also, I have to go to FL. tomorrow for the honeymoon and for obvious reasons (security) I can't take my protein powder in a bag. Nor can I take a container cause they are 2 lb sizes and can't bring it home open. How do I get it there? It is too late to order individual packets.
Yesterday I had
B~ double protein shake (about 32 oz), 2 boiled eggs
S~ nothing
L~ double protein shake (about 32 oz)
S~ protein bar
D~ 1/6th of a whole steak quesadilla or 1/3rd of a half
S~ 1 belgium chocolate sugar free low carb bar
decaf tea throughout the day with splenda no milk
Equaled out to apprx. 1120 cal., 60 fat, 39 carbs, 96 protein
Today so far:
B~ double protein shake (about 32 oz), 2 boiled eggs, tea
I lost 1lb. I need to really lose more. I want to be back to 189. I don't exercise except for daily things. I know, I know...but I am very bad about that. Over the next week we are doing a lot of walking in FL. (DisneyWorld)
Someone straighten me out. Tell me I am not the only one gaining.
Joanne
I've gained a few pounds in the last few weeks and I know its because I've been eating more carbs. We just have to get back to what we know we're supposed to do.......plenty of protein and water. As for your trip, I'd take some protein bars. I buy the Balance bars at Walmart. Their pretty tasty and have 15 grams of protein per bar. You've taken the first step, and that's recognizing your weight gain and wanting to do something about it....FAST. You look wonderful and I can't wait to see your pictures of the wedding! Congratulations!
Hey, Joanne. I'm not here to straighten you out, but just to tell you that I have probably gained 3 pounds. I am on a mean plateau and have been there for about 6 weeks. I try, really try to not let it bother me. I surely don't want this to be the end of my miraculous weight loss. Losing 120 is good, but I can loose about 50 more, and probably more.
I am not the poster child for water intake or protein or even my daily supplements. I don't even regularly exercise, since I guess I can't count chasing a toddler as exercise. Yesterday, this is what I ate:
1 piece cinnamon raisin toast with BUTTER
20 oz hot tea with splenda and a splash of skim milk
1/2 chicken panini sandwich with onion straws from Damon's
24 oz iced tea with lemon and splenda
2 sugar cookies with frosting
44 oz water
1 chicken fajita from Red Robin
2 french fries stolen from my daughter's plate
32 oz water before bed
1 sugar cookie
so, my dear, as you can see...i don't do it right and I know I can loose more weight by doing things better. There are so many on this forum who are religious about what they eat and drink and do to make this tool work for them.
enjoy the bliss of being a newlywed, don't let a LITTLE weight gain put a shadow over this glorious time in your life. Have fun in Florida. You deserve it.

I'm still 3 pounds away from the century mark and not sure I'll get there, but it's okay.
It IS tougher to keep the weight constant, but I think it fluctuates a little. I had gained 2-3 pounds leading up to Christmas, but dropped all of the excess weight over the actual Christmas weekend. I just plain had too many people in the house and too much to do, to eat much.
I've only dropped 5 pounds in the last 2.5 months (or around there), but at least it's not going up, up, up.
You're great about counting protein and water and I'm sure you'll find this is temporary. Remember, stress can effect your weight/metabolism too and you've had alot on your plate this past month.
Julie
Joanne,
Carbs can cause an immediate weight gain and yes, 6 lbs is possible if you are eating lots of carbs. Cut out the carbs or cut way back on them and I bet you will see results quickly. Carbs are so easy to eat for me and I know I eat too many.
When I travel, I don't take the protein powder but I do pack protein bars. Also as soon as we get to our destination I check out the local GNC store and Vitamin Shoppe as they both carry protein items that I use. Many grocery stores now carry protein powder and bars too, so you might want to take your protein shaker cup if you have one for mixing. If you are by a Vitamin Shoppe locally, there often have individual foil pouches of soy protein drinks that you just add water to. Great for traveling/packing.
My girlfriend packed protein powder in a container last trip here and it opened up. What an absolutely horrid mess. Every bit of her clothes had to be washed and we even had to vacuum the suitcase and still didn't get it all out.
You also mentioned that you were upset that you hadn't reached the century mark ... I have lost 124 lbs but 50 of it was pre-surgery .. so 74 since. I know I have lost slower than many but I try not to focus on comparison with others. I focus on all the wonderful changes to my health and things that I can finally do myself. Whether you have lost 5 lbs or 500 lbs you are success. Remember all that you have accomplished since surgery.
Have a wonderful time in Florida.
Mary
When we went on vacation, I put one scoop of protein powder in a snack sized zip-lock bag and then put all of them inside a gallon sized zip-lock bag and took along my shaker cup. They packed very flat, were pre-measured and were super easy to use. No one from airline security questioned them at all.
They saved me several times from making bad choices when I was tired or hungry.

Joanne,
I know I can't do what you're doing. Never did even want to try the protein drinks, so you're way ahead of me with that. By the way, I'm not in the century club either, and am not sure if it'll happen. I'm a shortie like Julie and am still 6-9# away depending on the day. I didn't gain anything over the holidays, but I'm in training for a race so I'm running a lot. However, I didn't lose anything either.
You don't even want to know what I ate yesterday. I eat so much more than all of you, but I'll tell you what I've had today because I was much better. The daily routine is good for me. I didn't work yesterday.
1st breakfast (before my run 7am): 4 oz Dannon Carb Control yogurt
2nd breakfast (after I get to work 9-10am): ~1/4 cup leftover stuffing and small bag cheese nips (usually single serving oatmeal packet but forgot to bring more)
lunch: 3 oz rib steak and 1/3 c veggies (this usually is meat and veggies)
snack: 1/2 peice of cake (birthday party at work, but this is when I'd eat the bag of chips if I didn't bring anything better such as fruit)
dinner: will be either leftover seafood chowder and a roll or more steak and veggies
Probably will have an evening snack of a few SF candies I got just for my Christmas stocking and might have some Tostitos since hubby won't eat them. Evenings are the time I graze if I'm not careful. Sometimes I can help it, sometimes I can't. It's all day by day with me.
I drink water and coffee all day, so liquids aren't a problem. But as you can see, I very likely eat 1200-1500 calories a day, maybe more. I suppose I could say that I 'earn' the extra calories because I run so much, but I still feel like I eat way more than any of the rest of you.
I know you already know what works for you. We are all confident you'll get those pounds off and get back to your normal life and routine shortly. But for now, enjoy your time. Yeah, it's good to get back to what works, but tomorrow is another day and there will be many many tomorrows.
Take care and have a wonderful time!
Linn
