Food Combinations = dumping
Has anyone noticed that they can eat some foods alone, but not if they're combined with other things.
I can eat small amounts of sugar with no problem (chocolate, etc.), and I can drink milk or eat yogurt, BUT if the two are combined, I'll be sick in 20 minutes. I had already figured that out about ice cream (no more than 2 bites) and some other stuff, but last night I wasn't thinking and had a couple bites of my husband's cheese cake at a company dinner and whoa! I was clammy, nauseous, and sleepy all at the same time and very, very quickly.
That's okay with me though...it's always sugared things that trigger it and that's a good thing. I grew up eating a bowl of ice cream before bed every night and now, it doesn't even appeal to me. Yippee!!!
Julia I found that I can't do anything "DAIRY" it gives me gas somethig awful and lord knows that is a terrible thng when you have to go in public So I take calcium tablets and eat food that are calcium rich. I can't tolerate REFINED SUGAR as it makes me go through the flux. I had a small piece of cake & a glass of milk (Hoods Low Carb/Low Fat) on my daughters B-day and I will never forget the horrible result let me just say it took me 3 days to recover.

I noticed that sometimes I will dump on something and sometimes I won't. I had the worst dumping experience at work after I ate a small bowl of oatmeal. I was in the bathroom for an hour. I was sweating and had MAJOR cramps. Ended up laying on the bathroom floor (grose). It was terrible. But other times I won't dump. I think you are on to something and that it may be a combination of foods. susan
