We think....

I just wanted to share a comment that someone at work said to me the other day. She asked if I was done losing weight and I replied that I would like to lose another 15 pounds (which will put me at 160). She said "we" think you should stop losing weight now. I thought it was interesting that people are talking about it. I guess I don't think it is a bad thing, but I just kind of want to blend in. I am still considered overweight for my BMI, but I feel good. Haven't posted in a while, hope everyone is doing great! We are going to look so cute this holiday season! Enjoy!

Susan, I get the same thing! And dummy me....... I point out where I still need to loose! I need to stop that. I guess I should just be grateful I have to point it out.

Susan, I'm thinking that their version of what they see has changed so drastically that they really don't know what 'normal' looks like on you. I fully believe that the people around us suffer as much from body dysmorphia as we do ourselves and that's the root of most of the comments. Of course, I was warned about this at my 6-month appointment with my surgeon. He reminded me to just do what I wanted to do with my tool and that he doubted that I would be underweight and unhealthy as long as I ate well, took my vitamins, and exercised. I'm thankful I haven't heard that yet, but most folks I know wouldn't say that to me anyway. Even though no one has seen me this small since I was 13, they are all pretty good at holding their tongues. The only thing my hubby has said is that he doesn't think I should lose too much more. I've assured him that I doubt that I'll lose much more than 10-15# anyway. He just worries that I won't be healthy and I don't want to add more stress on him - he already worries that I'm so cold all the time. Kudos to you and your wonderful success! Keep on keepin' on and only worry about what you think of your own self. Linn

Funny, you should mention this. This year in our holiday cards I included a photo taken at Thanksgiving of Hal and I. Well, yesterday I got a note from a friend and in it she wrote that she had noticed that I had really lost a lot of weight BUT she hoped I wouldn't get too small as I needed to be healthy!!! Another wrote that she thought I looked great but was concerned that I would lose too much weight. Oh well .. not going to worry about it. I know I'm healthy and my healthy new lifestyle is a priority for me. I also know that I need to lose about 50 to 60 more lbs to have a normal BMI range. How exciting to be so close to your goal, that is wonderful. Congratulations. Mary

Hi Susan! Recently, the human resource manager at work pulled me aside and said something similar. She said to me, "It seems like you've lost a lot of weight. We're concerned that you may be losing too much." I laughed and said, "I appreciate your concern, but I am strong and healthy. I used to wear a size 28, and now I wear a size 14. If I get to be a size 3 and I'm still losing weight, then MY DOCTOR will have cause for concern." I then smiled and walked away. Why do people think it's any of their business??? Best of luck... you look great. ~Lynn -122lbs.
