Weight Loss % & Many Successes
I watched the show the Biggest Loser last week and they started to calculate each person's percentage of weight loss from their highest weight.
If you are interested here's how you do it:
Take the number of pounds lost and divide it by your highest weight.
So for me that would be:
124 pounds divided by 305 pounds which equals = 41%
That means that I have lost 41% of my original weight. Oh my gosh, I've lost almost half of me.
As a result I no longer take any blood pressure meds (had been taking 2 a day for years), I no longer have sleep apnea nor have to use my CPAP machine, I can bend and move, I can ride in a plane and not need a seat belt extender, I can use the bathroom on the plane, I can bend over and pick things up from the ground myself, I can go thru a turnstile and not worry about getting stuck, I can sit at a counter in a restaurant, I can sit in a booth, I can buy clothes in the Misses Dept and finally have choices, I can walk and walk and walk (before I was lucky to walk 1/4 of a block on concrete without severe hip pain). I feel good about me.
Most important of all: I have my good health back and I have rejoined life doing things I haven't done for years.
So many blessings including all my wonderful friends here.

Hi Mary,
My highest weight was 299 lbs. I weighed 219 on my surgery date.
I've lost 82 lbs since surgery. I've had a total loss of 162 lbs.
Let's see, these are my figures:
82 lbs divided by 219 lbs equals 37%.
162 lbs divided by 299 lbs equals 54%
In total, I've lost more than 1/2 of me - 54%. How exciting, I had no idea!!
I too feel blessed with my family here, especially the ladies of the February board. Every day I first check the February board for any posts. Love you all.
Paula
Amazing isn't it? I calculated and I've lost 38.8% of myself. Yippee!!
It truly has been a season to consider all that has changed in my life since surgery and I have so much to be grateful for. Saturday was a very busy day and that evening when I reflected on how much I'd accomplished in one day, I realized that I could NEVER have done it a year ago. I would simply have worn out too quickly.
So thankful and looking forward to having all of the family home for a blessed Christmas.

Julie,
I sure do understand. We were on vacation last week and decided to check out the sites locally. We started out early in the morning and wouldn't get back home until late in the evening. We walked and walked and walked. Some evenings I would say that I just didn't want to go home yet so we would take off some more. We saw so many beautiful Christmas lights at the zoo and the botanical gardens and in the area here.
How wonderful to have your family together for the holidays.

Mary,
I watch Biggest Loser every week. It inspires me to keep on working this surgery and with the exception of a couple of the people, I have grown fond of the folks on there trying so hard to get healthy.
My numbers are 170 pounds lost divided by a starting weight of 374 which equals = 45%.
Now if I could only have a personal trainer working me all day 7 days a week! I think my numbers would be amazing....sigh.... What the heck, they feel amazing to me anyway!
Keep up the wonderful work!
Best,
Amy
