I too have hit a pleatau I bounce between 160-165 and it really is kinda depressing, I want to hit 150 by my one year anniv and am worried that I am not going to make it anymore. I am holding all the holidays partly responsable for my pleatau as there is a lot more food around and a lot more temptations and also a lot more sitting around talking about food (well in my family there is). I am beginning to get nervous that this is it and I am not going to lose anymore. although I am very excited about the weight I have already lost I have gotten greedy and I want it all !!!. Anyway, I dont know what to say as far as breaking the pleatau other than if you do find out let me know.. lol Good Luck for the holidays. Lee

Linda and Lee, I'm in the same boat. I've been at about the same weight for about 1 month. I have been eating more lately, also. I've also been less active due to the cold. It's been a bummer. I'm happy with how far I've come. It'll happen. We just need to revisit the rules of the tool we've received and make sure we are doing everything we should be doing. P.S. Lee, your new pic is amazing, is that really you? Linda, I've always liked your picture. You are beautiful.

Me too! I'd bounced between 155-158 since September 18th. I was reading through some profiles the other day and someone had posted 10 basic rules of WLS and I re-read them and they were motivating. I quit drinking when I was eating (which I was doing more than I realized) and it HAS made a big difference in the amount I'm able to eat at one setting and I've finally dropped another 2 pounds. This may be it for me and I guess that's okay although I had hoped to be 145 by Christmas. Since that would mean another 7 pounds in the next 3 weeks, I'm not holding my breath. 247/152/140 Julie

i am right there with you ladies! i keep going from 160 to 165..and i am sick of it I have been exercising 5 days a week for at least 30 to 45 minutes, have upped both my protein and water but the scale isn't moving and hasn't for almost 6 weeks. i broke down and called my surgeons office this morning and she gave me a little pep talk that i was definately not done. she suggested shaking up my exercise routine a little and keep a food diary for a while so i know exactly what is going in my mouth and when i seem the most hungry. She also told me to watch for inches lost...which i agree with. the size 12 dress pants i wore over the weekend are pretty baggy on me and were not a week ago when i wore them to work.....i have never kept track of my inches but now wish I would have. Julie, where did you find that pouch rules for dummies? i used to have it saved but can't find it. thanks.

Encouraging though, isn't it, to know that we're just normal? I'm holding on to the hope of great things for us all...we're only half way through the 18 month period. Julie

Me too. I can't get out of the 130's. I bounce up and down between 132-137. I want to be at my original goal of 125 on my anniversary 2/11. (I've changed my goal to 121 which I read is the medically ideal weight for my height (5'4") and age (53)). I know what the problem is - slacking on water, starting to graze. Although I graze on good foods, it is still grazing. I've even slacked on my vitamins and supplements. It is soo hard to get back on track, isn't it? I'm sorry you all are having problems too, but it helps me to know others are in the same boat. I started back to basics yesterday. I've tried for several weeks, but finally made it through a whole day yesterday. I'm having 3 protein shakes made with soymilk and a small meal. I got in my water and my supplements. Doing good today, so far. This so scares me for the future. That's why the support I get here is so important. God bless, and much success to you all, Paula (299)/219/137/121-125 -167

Linda, I had been going up and down 3 lbs for over 4 weeks. Then I realized it was me that was part of the problem. I was eating too many carbs and not exercising as much as before. So I started back on high protein and more regular exercise ... lost those darn 3 lbs plus 1 more. Down to a new low of 182 for me ...that's a minus 123 lbs. Sometimes our bodies just need a rest and that can cause a plateau. So ask yourself these questions ... Are you eating high protein each day? Are you limiting the amount of carbs you eat? Are you still doing low or no sugar each day? Are you getting enough fluids in? Are you exercising daily? Are you following all the rules your Dr gave you to be successful? If you answered yes to ALL the questions, then it is a plateau and should break soon. If you answered NO to even one of these, it could be what is causing the plateau. Mary

wellll finallyyyyy the scale moved. after 3 weeks of recommitting to my exercise and doubling the protein and water this morning i am down 3 pounds after almost 6 weeks of bouncing up and down. I have had a couple of friends who have had the surgery and lost their weight while doing absolutely NO exercise at all....but i am just NOT one of those people. One of the friends recently told me that she is having some pretty serious muscle/back problems and the doctors think it is due to atrophy because she has not been exercising...now she is calling me asking me what type of exercises I am doing. I also had to share with you all that my Christmas present to myself is that I am going to start taking Belly Dancing lessons the 1st of January!!! I took all kinds of dance lessons as a kid and really loved it....I am hoping it will help in the toning department. Anyone here that has taken Belly dancing please let me know how you liked it....Kelly

YIPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. Exercise is so important. With weight loss we want fat loss, not muscle loss and exercise helps maintain our muscle mass. So many people forget that the heart is a muscle too so we need to exercise to keep it healthy. Belly dancing sounds like fun. Let us know how you like it. I've never done it before. Mary
