My Skin

I've been a little concerned about break-outs this past few months. I've never had clear, smooth skin. It seems as though the near distant past has been really bad for increased oiliness and break outs on my chin and forehead. Maybe it's because my period has been WACKY! Who knows. Anyone else having some skin integrity problems? please share. Denise

Yeah, me too.. I have now got dry skin, and I have never had dry skin in my life. I am now for the first time in my life having to put creams and stuff on my face to stop from flaking away. My period has been totally wacky also anywhere from 2-6 weeks apart. Is'nt being a woman fun Lee

Mine too. My skin is soo dry. My face feels tight and pulls. Never had that. Always had oily skin as a teen. An interesting concept to me. I always had to deal with Clearisil (sp)- not sure what I need now. WACKY periods are a thing of the past for me. Gone 7/16/98 with the first round of chemo for breast cancer. Isn't is something how I remember the date. Paula

Denise, I've also noticed that I am getting a lot of break-outs as well. In fact, I find them worse now than when I was young. Mine are more like big red boils. I attribute some of it to the profuse sweating when I run, but it can't be all that. I've been using a lot of Clearasil lately and it seems to help get rid of them faster, but it doesn't stop them from starting. Then, the skin on my arms and legs is dry. I do okay when I remember to use lotion, but remember is the key word. Don't have any words of wisdom, but I am also experiencing this. Linn

My skin is definately different now - I do think it hormone related - all the estrogen that was trapped in my fat cells has been released and is creating havoc in my body. Yeah fun! I seem to be a little better this month - maybe it is calming down now. I have an appointment with my GYN doc next week - I am going to ask to try some hormone therapy to try to regulate my system. I have had wacky periods for ever and they are worse now and I am tired of it so I want to try medical treatment before we move on to surgical intervention. Has anyone had a hysterectomy after surgery? If so - how did it go? Any advice/hints would be appreciated. Liz

I had a total hysterectomy Exactly 2 months after the gastric bypass. It took a couple of months to get my hormones regulated but every since it has been fine. As for my skin, I have always had oily/blemished skin and know i have pretty clear skin. Not to dry and no to oily. I think it has a lot to do with the foods that you eat. I still take a hair, skin, and nail vitamin along with a multi every day and i drink about 32 oz of protien shakes everyday (NECTAR-it's great). I hope that this is helpful. Becky 340/199/175
