Anyone having the same problem as me?
Hi everyone,
I had my surgery on Feb 17th. I started out at 249.5 lbs. The problem I am having is for 4 months I have been going between 173 and 183. I haven't lost anymore than that. I understand that there are plateus along the way, but for 4 months? Don't get me wrong I am so happy to get this far but I would like to get to 140. I went from size 28 to presently a size 16. I haven't been that size since 8th grade in 1979. Anyone having the same problem or have any suggestions?
Thanks so much,
Annie
Annie,
first of all congratulations!!! Secondly, I am having the same problem. My weight loss has been so slow for the last several months that it gets a tad discouraging at times. HOWEVER I saw my surgeon today and he told me that I am losing weight at a great healthy rate and that everyones bodies need to time to adjust to the rapid weight loss in the beginning. These are the months where we have to work even harder to lose weight and when (at least I have) we realize that this surgery is really just a tool that we can choose to utilize or not. I am just trying really hard to up my protein and water intake and to exercise when I can (i know I should be doing it everyday but between working 2 jobs, school, riding lessons, my family and a boyfriend (hehe) its hard to find an hour when I am not doing homework or sleeping...I do exercise but not as much as I should! dont fret you arent alone!!

OK I am going to ask the dreaded questions......are you exersizing & what are you eating? I hate to ask that but it is something you should think about. I am now logging what I eat on Fitday it has helped me. I had my surgery Feb 23rd, started at 239 am now at 147, I had a plateu for about 2 months & I upped the exersize & started making better choices, & started losing again. Hope this helps. Good luck!
I there fellow Feb 17th...
I started out at 304 and am now around 164. and I put my continuing slow but steady weightloss down to the fact that I re-joined weigh****chers. I sit through the meetings and it helps me get my head on straight for the week to come. helps me put my mind in order to making good decisions, exercizing and just having support.
I have not told them about my surgery as there is no need to and I am losing between 1 and 2 lbs a week for the most part.
I cant make it to regular suoort group meeting as my family situation just does not allow me the time, however weigh****chers is on every corner and there is a meeting every couple of hours.
Its just a suggestion. I hope this helps

Annie,
Another thing to look at is: are you eating regular meals at regular times or are you grazing throughout the day? Put your allowed servings on a plate and only eat that at the meal. Divvy out your snacks as well and eat them at specific times. I think that will help a lot. I'm on a 2-month plateau myself, but I also know that part of the reason is I'm not exercising as much as I was before gall bladder surgery and it's taking a while to get back to where I was then. I'm also very close to being at a normal BMI and may not lose much more. I'd like to lose at least 15 more pounds to be at ideal, but there's still time.
At this point in time, I was recently reminded, it's really all up to us. The surgery is done working its magic and we must incorporate the good habits we've learned into our lives every day. It can be done.
One other thing you might do is check with a nutritionist. Even if they aren't all that familiar with weight loss surgeries, most are willing to learn and help you determine what you need in a day - including calories. In a lot of ways, I think we follow a food plan that is very similar to a diabetic diet, so you might want to look into something like that as well.
I realize I'm a bit wordy today, but just thought there might be something to all of this that would help you out some.
Take Care,
Linn
