ok, I just reached my own personal goal....140lbs. I Started this journey at 280 lbs. I have lost...let me see *Counting on all fingers...takes shoes off.... 140lbs. that's half of me! Does everyones surgeon give them a goal? OR a weight loss amount? My doctor has never said anything to me other than,"Oh you're going to lose over 100lbs." That was that. I just wanted to share some of my excitedness (is that a word? Have a great day everyone and good luck wherever you are on your journey! Vanessa -140lbs (lost and don't wanna find it )

Vanessa, Congratulations on your loss! A 140 lb. reduction just seems miraculous doesn't it? Until a month ago I didn't know what my surgeons goal was for me. I was just too excited about losing, I never bothered to ask "how much?" I was weighed at my surgeons, she said I was on target and should have no problem hitting my "ideal" weight of 155. Where did that number come from? Afterward, I looked it up on the BMI scale and 155 is the high end of the normal range for me. This time last year I would have killed to reach 180 and I'd be ecstatic about that. I'm 160 now and haven't lost in almost 3 weeks. My husband seems to think I'll make it to 150 (wishful thinking, maybe?). I guess I better kick it into high gear, or I might be stuck for a while! All of you Feb-2004's seem to be ahead of me! Vanessa, How wonderful!!!! Congratulations. My surgeon's goal (I started out at 305) was that I would reach 180. I'm at 185 now so that is 5 lbs from his goal for me. Since I'm only 5'1", 180 is still a bit too much for me. My personal goal is to be between 125 and 130 so that my BMI is in the normal range. So I'm still working to get the 50 to 55 more lbs off. The last week I had done some stress eating, but am back on track and lost 2 lbs this weekend. As of today I've lost a total of 120 lbs from my high weight. Mary

I am 5'2" my doc's goal for me is 125, if I make it to 125 I will be estatic, if I don't that is fine too. My goal is 139 which will be a 100 lb loss. I started at 239, I am now at 149, 10 to go for my goal. I am very happy with that. Go on line & seach body weight chart, it goes by your height. Good luck!

Hi there, My surgeon's goal for me was 145, which I made as of last week sometime. My personal goal is 125. I was told that I can not go below 120. In fact, the nutritionist said that if I got near 120, call. I guess that is the magic number, or something. She does not think I am done losing. I forgot to ask why, or how she can tell. I started out very heavy. I weighed 327. I now weigh 140. That is 187 pounds. I am 5 feet 4 and a half inches tall. Andrea
