Hi All!!! Just wanted to update when I had a moment. It has been pretty busy here the last few days. First of all, I am still wearing my back brace. I go to the doc monday to see how it is doing. Keep your fingers crossed. I am not to hopeful on that though because I feel pain when I take it off to shower and when I bend the wrong way. Here's the good news. I finally set a date. We are getting married on christmas eve!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to try to have it here at my house. If that is not possible it will be in Disney. But it is leaning toward here. I have got a JP who can do it on that night and I called Disney and they can do it too. It is going to be a christmas/winter wedding. I am running around trying to find a dress on such short notice. So much needs to be done. I am also floored by the price of a veil!!! The one I tried on yesterday was $150!!! I can make it for a lot less than that. I have been looking online for one. Ebay has some but I think I have to wait on a dress first. Then there is shoes. I take a 12W and am 5'11" so I don't need any more height added. This is hard to find. I hate my big ugly feet. OK, now about hair extensions. I am thinking about it since my hair is thin (always has been). I thank God that it stopped falling out. It is growing back but it will never be thick unless I do this. Has anyone here had them who had thin hair? Can you tell me about your experience? How much did it cost you? What method did they use to attach it? Anyhow, I can use as much info as possible since I am going to be entering the lions den tomorrow. LOL I have an appointment for her to show me how it is done and what is the best method for me. I also have to go to DavidsBridal cause they have a $99 sale! What have I missed here? Any good stuff? Oh yeah...I am still at 195. I was at 198 from 193 cause I was not eating right. I am trying to go back to before. Seems in regular clothes I take a 12 and wedding dress...16. Ugh. Joanne

Joanne, I'm so excited for you!!!! A Christmas Eve wedding is a wonderful idea. Be sure to fill us in all the details as you have time. Don't worry one bit about the size of the dress ... as we all know sizing is not consistent and it truly doesn't matter whether you are a 12, a 16 or a 5. Find the dress that is perfect for you and that makes you feel like a fairy tale princess. I have heard about David's Bridals but have never been to one. Another place to try IF you have one close by is Pennys Outlet stores. They use to always have a bridal dept. Can't help you on the extensions. I would question tho if they were damage your hair in any way as you mentioned it was very thin. When I got married, I didn't wear a veil but did have a floral headband that was wide and filled with roses, pearls, and sequins. Went from ear to ear over the top of my head. It was perfect for me and set on my head just right. I'm short (5'1"). Yes, get your dress first then the veil. David's bridal may have some on sale too. Wishing you the best. Mary

Wow! Congratulations! How fun to plan something that beautiful and special for Christmas Eve. There is no better gift that someone who loves you unconditionally. David's Bridals is a great store; you'll have a wonderful time. And don't worry about the size...wedding gowns are notoriously tiny. I'm sure you'll be beautiful. E-bay IS a great option. I have a physician friend who actually bought her dress from E-bay for $100 and she looked wonderful! Can't help on the hair extensions...I don't even know anyone who has had them, but they look great on television. Mostly, just relax. Don't sweat the small stuff and HAVE FUN while you're planning this. It's been a long year for you and this should be nothing but pure joy! ((hugs))) Julie

Congrats on your wedding plans! I wanted to let ya know though that I got my hair cut last weekend and my beautician said, are you aware you have new hair growing all over your head? I had no clue! She showed me....the hair WILL come back! I was on cloud 9 when I found out. My hair is so thin. She said if I continue to get it cut every 6 weeks, it should thicken up soon! So...it may not be worth it to get the extensions if your hair will be back soon...Whatever you decide, Good luck! Cherrie

Joanne, I can't help you with regards to the hair extensions, but I wanted to say congratulations!!! It's very evident from your posts how much in love you and Dan are. No matter where you have the wedding, I am sure it will be magical and wonderful! By the way, I don't think I ever told you, but I lived in RI while I attended college (Johnson & Wales). I always thought that Providence had such great architecture, and loved the cobblestone streets! Anyway, congrats again and please keep us posted on how your plans are coming along! Barb

Hi Joanne, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and marriage. It's been a rough year for you and Dan. All the health problems seemed to have brought you closer. I have goose bumps on my arms just feeling the joy in your post. Christmas Eve what a great wedding day! What greater present then giving yourselves to each other. It would be really special to have it at your home. I hope that works out for you. If there is no improvement in your back, what is the plan. Have the doctors mentioned your options? Do they feel time will be all that's needed? I am no help with any of the wedding primping. I agree that the dress should come first so you'll know the style which would work out best for the shoes and veil. Sounds like you are doing great with your weight. Stress, both bad and good can cause bad food choices. You realize you were not eating right, and you'll do just fine now. Congratulations again. Paula

Joanne, Congrats on your wedding!! Wedding dressess don't size like regular clothes they really go by measurements my neice just got a beautiful one with $600 tag still on it for $135 on Ebay. Veils are expenisive. Go to lanebryantcatalog.com or roamans.com for the shoes they go up to size 12 and 13 and I know I have seen some nice dress flats and low heels on there not too expensive. On the Hair extensions sorry can't be of much help there hopefully you can get some help in that dept. Nancy

Congratulations!!! Married life is wonderful. Although many consider me to still be a newlywed (married 4.8.00)....I am still so in love today with my husband. I"m so happy for you. Do you want to see a picture of my veil? I'd certainly let you borrow it. I'll tell you a little about it. I let my hair grow to about shoulder length and I wanted to wear my hair up on my wedding day. My stylist caught my hair up on top of my head and made a kind of bun. The headpiece was kind of a small crown and the veil is fingertip length. It's simple but elegant, I thought. I can snap a picture for you to see. Imagine shopping for a size 28 wedding gown. I should have gone to see OMAR, the tent maker. Again, congratulations! denise
