What vitamins are y'all taking? Should I be ordering these expensive vitamins online that are made for gastric bypass patients or does the over the counter stuff work just as well? I've been taking centrum chewable and sublingual b-complex. What's everybody else taking? Thanks. L.

Morning Let's see . . . when I can remember to take all of my vitamins (lol) I take: sublingual b-12 - 2x weekly (spring valley brand - liquid), Vitamin C - 100 - 4-6x daily (GNC brand - real yummy too - they taste like sweet tarts - lol), Potassium & Magnesium Aspartate - 250 - 1x daily (GNC brand), Flax Seed Oil - 500 mg (GNC "Natural Brand"), Fish Body Oils w/GLA - 1000 mg - 1x daily (GNC brand), Calcium Citrate Plus - 1/2x daily (w/Vitamin D & Magnesium - GNC brand), for my multi-vitamin I have been switching back between Vista Vitamins & Sugar Free One-A-Day. To be perfectly honest I haven't noticed much of a difference except in the taste (I gag on the Vista - but take them because I have to). I also prefer to take my iron in my multi-vitamin to help avoid pouch irritation & constipation which I was battling for quite a while. As you can tell, I take quite a bit of GNC brand stuff . . . I find the price comparible & the awesome part, is that even if I open the bottle & say take 1/2 of it, I can bring it back with the for a full refund (or exchange) if I decide I don't like it. I wish you luck and hope you're doing better then I am trying to remember to take all of these dang things . . . hmmmm . . . maybe I should add gingko biloba to my list too - lol . . . . Hugs ~Amanda

I still take Centrum chewables. They are easy for me to remember to take since I put them in my gym bag so they're there when I get ready for work. I also take a sublingual B12 once a week that I get from GNC. I also keep that in my gym bag so it's right in front of my face. Although I don't take calcium citrate because I can't remember to take pills in the evening, I do take 3 viactiv chews every evening when I get home. I put them by my husband's Oreos and make them my before-dinner snack so I remember to take calcium. I know that calcium carbonate isn't as easily absorbed, so I generally eat an extra viactive so I'm getting enough. So far my labs have looked good, so I think I'm fine with what I'm taking. Linn

I take sublingual B-12 by Trophic 3x a week. My multi vitamin is adult chewable by Nature Made. It is tangerine flavored and not chalkie. Myiron is ferrous fumerate coated pill by Wampole and my Calcium is a caramel chew with Vitamin D. It is by Mega Cal. I take two chews, one at lunch and the other at dinner because your body can't absorb all 650 mg's at the same time. All the others I take in the morning. Iron can't be taken with calcium. All my tests are text book healthy.

Hi, L, I've been taking Optisource Resource vitamins since surgery. It's what my surgeon recommended and I've been having great lab results so I'm sticking to them. They're formulated specifically for bariatric patients. Yes, they would be considered a bit pricey at about $25 a bottle (one month supply) but when you take into account that they contain all the B12, calcium and iron we need they make perfect sense. Having only one kind of pill to take is great for me, even though you do have to take them 4 times a day. They're chewable orange flavored, and don't taste bad. Even though you have to take four a day, I don't find it inconvenient. I just put them on my desk and "pop" one every hour or so till they're gone. They're available online at walgreens.com. Hi. I take a prenatal chewable my Dr perscribed and over the counter Bioten and B12. It is nice because my insurance covers the prenatal vitamins.
