Hiya ladies. I have a question for you.. I know that our periods get messed up with rapid weight loss, but now that things are slowing down should'nt things be getting back to normal? I really had no problems when the weight was coming off fast, However now that things have slowed down my period has a mind of its own and presents itself ever 2-3 weeks and this is going to drive me over the edge! it has been 17 days since aunt flow was on my doorstep last. Sorry to present you all with this subject. I was just wondering if anyone else was having the same or similar problems? Thanks for listening xoxox Lee

Hi Lee - Yep, things are a little irregular here as well. I have traditionally been pretty regular, but since surgery my cycle has been WACKY. Another contributing factor could be that I changed my birth control pill due to prescription coverage changes. I asked both my surgeon and my OB/GYN who said that it's totally normal to experience this irregularity. Yesterday was my first pill-free day, so I'm sure things will be a little irregular again. Good luck. Denise

Something else and that is estrogen stores in the fat cells so when we are over weight we have a lot of excess estrogen now that we have lost a lot where is it going??? I feel like I am going through some major menopause right now can't wait til my appoinment with the gyno for some blood work to find out. Nancy

Leeanne, I would say that's about the only thing that's been normal for me since surgery. I had a small glitch in the beginning couple of months, but have been regular as a clock ever since. My periods are extremely light for me), but I attribute that to the low calorie diet and intense exercise. Linn

Hi Lee, Beacuse of my age, (23) my dr. wanted to make sure that I did NOT get preggers, he put me on the IUD. He said there is not enough evidence that the pill will help as we do not absorb it (or anything) that well. Anyway, my period was not there until I got the IUD in. Since I was very heavy before surgery, my cycle was messed up to begin with ( I had to go in for two DNC's) now I just deal with it. It is a pain, but they said I should be gettign normal soon. Also dont foger that if your cycle is not heavy, then it could be more hormonal, instead of the every 28 days cycle. That is how my OBGYN explained it to me. Your body is still changing and getting used to a thinner & healthy you. It might take a few months for your body to catch up. Good luck! Sarah

I had already been through menopause w/few problems. I got my first hot flashes amonth after surgery. I did not know what it was, until I talked with some post menopause friends. They only lasted a few weeks. Now no problem!!!

I really hope its not menopause, I am only 28. I went to the Dr. Last week to see if he could tell me anything and he took some blood, now I am just waiting to see what he has to say. Fingers crossed Lee
