I really dont drink a lot of caffine. Maybe like 2-3 mornings/wk I'll have like a 12 oz cappucino from WaWa or like the occasional iced tea. It does wake me up a little bit but really not that much. I often wonder if it makes me more tired when I have it? I kinda like not drinking soda and caffine. I feel good. sarah

The only caffeine I get is in chocolate items (like my protein bars) and it is minimal. Surgeon said no caffeine as it stimulates the appetite and also can really irritate the tummy plus can cause dehydration. Not worth the risks in my opinion. Mary

Hi Lee. I don't do a lot of caffeine. I also did not use it too much before surgery. When I do have some, like a cup of coffee or tea or COKE, I get no real rush or anything. I also don't remember what my surgeon advised about caffeine after surgery. For me, it's all about moderation and it seems to be working fine. Denise

Hello- I drink about a half cup of eight o'clock bean coffee balanced (which is half decaf/half regular) and sometimes I'll have some iced tea, but I predominantly drink water or other caffeine free products. The caffeine doesn't really bother me, but I try to avoid it. I pump up my water intake if I do have caffeine. Michelle

Hi Lee, NO don't have caffeen it's not a good idea overall. My suregon also said not to have any. I used to be a soda freek before surgery and I have gone cold turkey because the carbonation will make the poutch bigger allowing more food intake. I have had some decaff coffee and alot of Crystal Lite because I don't like plain water. I am not a doctor but I follow the suegon to the t. I have had no complications at all so far so good. I wish you continued success. Jill

I heard that soda will stretch out the pouch, too. But, my surgeon said it was OK in modersation AFTER 6 months. Apparently, once you hit that six month mark, the pouch is healed and less likely to stretch (unless you deliberately stuff it). I don't drink soda everyday, and I have to be in the mood for it. I prefer decaf iced tea, tropicana light lemonade, water, and crystal light. Those are the good habits I got into! Andrea

I pick and choose my caffeine. Every morning, I have a cup of dunkin donuts coffee....with caffeine. The decaf tastes crappy. But, I drink decaf iced tea, and decaf diet sodas. Caffeine in soda tends to bother me; I prefer diet sprite or diet caff free pepsi. But, the coffee goes down the hatch just fine. Hope that helps. Andrea

I went back to caffeine about a month ago, and haven't had a problem. I have a small one in the morning, and make sure that I up the water intake the rest of the day, just because I'm afraid of dehydrating. The little local java cafe in my town serves the best, all with non-fat and about 40 sugar-free flavors. I usually get a small double-latte with non-fat milk and a different sugar-free flavor every morning, most of the time I go with coconut, english toffee, or caramel, but sometimes I walk in and just have to try something different, like raspberry-vanilla nut. They all know I'm on a "diet" and when I'm in a mood they like to suggest different flavors for me to experiment. Aileigh 265/162
