My name is Maureen
I've been on this site for some time now but it has taken me a long time to get through it all. This is a huge site! I am an American from Newton, MA who has lived all over the country due to my military service. Six years ago I met my hubby who is Canadian and I now live in Victoria, BC Canada. It is Canada's version of Hawaii. It is a beautiful island that has flowers all year round and very little snow. While we only had 4" of snow last year we had lots of rain. Lots and lots of rain My hubby loved me as I was. I feel so greatful about that. My top weight was 315. The wait for bariatric surgery is about three years. I got mine in 18 months because I lost weight presurgery and remained committed to my goal of exercising. I am glad it took that long because we have the time to do the research, get a support group and learn all about post op eating pre op. I made the changes pre op so I knew what to do.
I had few problems with my open RNY on Feb 2nd. I left the hospital after 2 1/2 days because I was being over medicated, the blood thinners were making me bleed and the nurses were trying to kill me I felt better at home. Every day I felt 100% better than the day before. I started exercising three weeks after surgery. The pain reduced markedely daily. I am almost eight months out and fear a slowdown of weight loss. My failure has always been at 185 which is around the corner. I know things are different now but that failure point is still in my head. I will be relieved when I pass it. I have lost about 10 lbs a month but it seems I exdperience a plateau after every loss. I'll be glad when this is over and I can get on with my life. I believe the only surgery I will need is my bat wings. They are mostly skin now. That'll be the next journey.
Hi Maureen. My name is Annette. Remember you have a tool that will help you surpass that 185lbs. Just up your protein and cardio excersize once that time comes around and keep a positive attitude. Remember you are the one in control. Keep us updated on your sucess because you are sucessful on your journey.

291/179/??
I hear you. My failure point was 170lbs had never ever gone below that. I can't believe my eyes when it finally did. And if you follow the instruction of your surgeon it can happen to you too.I can't begin to tell anyone how aweson it is to have that weight off and gone. best wishes and congratulations.
Maureen,
I've been to Victoria many times. What a beautiful area.
You won't fail this time ... you have a great tool and the commitment to your success. My lowest weight as an adult was 190 (after a 6 month starvation diet). I'm now at 189 and at a little bit of stand still but know I will get passed it ... you will pass your 185 too!!!!

Hi Maureen,
I had a similar point where I was worried if I would ever get below. Mine was 165, and although it was slow going around that weight, I did finally make it below that.
I'm now smaller than I ever have been as an adult, and am feeling wonderful. Really, though, now is the time to be getting on with your life. Don't wait until you reach or surpass a goal, let them come and go as you live the way you want to.
I'm lucky now if I lose 5# a month, so I just know it will be slow from here on out. But, slow is not impossible, it's just slow.
Glad to meet you, and I wish you continued success.
