Big Size Variances

Wow! What a shock when I went shopping this weekend. Most of the clothes I've been buying have been at the Salvation Army or the Goodwill (and they've been NICE) but...I've been wearing basically 12's and 14's. At the store last night (to buy NEW clothes****pt trying clothes that were too big and finally wound up in a size 8 jacket and a size 10 pair of dress slacks and I've lost a few inches, but no pounds since the early part of August. Are the newer clothes really that much smaller or do you think it was just a particular store/brand? Doesn't matter really..it FELT WONDERFUL! Cheers! Julie 247/ 162/ 145

Hey Julia, I've noticed that as well. I bought size 10 Levis about a month ago, but I can fit into as small as a 6 in some other brands. I've also noticed that there are lots of brands that are cut different as well. I've never had much for hips, so I can't wear most relaxed fit or Lee jeans. I still have to try to fit the waist first, but I noticed the slim fit stretch jeans fit my shape better now (or at least show that I have a butt). I have heard that some manufacturers are changing their sizes, making the number smaller so people feel better about wearing a smaller size. I noticed when I went shopping a couple weeks ago that Tommy, Gap, and a few others I can't remember now were a smaller size than Levis. I think that's whats going on right now. I guess what I'm going to do is base the size I'm in on what I wear in Levis. I doubt that they're going to change theirs, so I'll have a better way to judge my size progress from here on out. It can be so frustrating to go shopping ... each manufacturer is different in the inches for each size. Someone posted on another board that QVC did standard sizing so that if you bought a size 8, it would be the exact same from any manufacturer on their site.
