So what foods are you eating now?
Kelly,
My surgeon says NO to: beef of any kind, nuts, coconut, corn on the cob. Carbs are allowed in moderation, so I do eat bread or wraps occassionally.
I had major problems with pork tenderloin being too hard on my tummy so don't eat that at all now.
I eat sugar in moderation ... maybe a bite of Hal's dessert. I love salads and eat a lot of those loaded with protein. Also enjoy fresh fruit in moderation. I have had very few problems over the last few months with eating. Most things if eaten slowly and chewed well do just fine.
Good question.

I can also eat pretty much anything. I still dump, so I don't eat much of any sugar or sugar alcohols. That leaves out most protein bars as well.
Most breads hurt, so I don't eat bread unless it's an occasional VERY well-toasted english muffin half with peanut butter. Helps my toast cravings.
I eat any kind of meat, but sometimes have trouble with white chicken. I love steaks, and eat lots of veggies. I never make a starch for dinner, but sometimes have crackers and peanut butter as an afternoon snack.
Mornings before the gym are carb control yogurt then oatmeal or the like mixed with powdered mild when I'm done.
I do have sugar-free latte's a couple times a week as well, but have never had a protein shake.

I cant eat beef, i just chew and chew until i get tired. I had a few cashews today and did well but will stay away from them. i also will sneak my hubbys desert from time to time. LOL.
I dont dump either, i dont know if its a good thing or not but sometimes i get tired and thats it.

havea great weekend
hey Kelly and all,, well I don't eat a lot of different foods In the begining I had a terrible time eating and drinking,, My surgen wants me to be eating more solid foods but they mostly hurt the tummy and I get a sick feeling,
I eat lots of cottage cheese and tuna, can eat chicken if its real moist, beef sit like a log and I feel it for the rest of the day. I don't eat most starches,, sometimes a tablespoon of instant tators, i had a forth of grilled cheese one day it it did ok,,
I can handle jerkey so sometimes I eat that instead of a meal,, i just ate a scrambled egg with a tiny amount of chile and cheese on it, no tummy is very upset,, i did not even finish eating,, go figure? i can eat eggs and I can eat chile and cheese. but tonight it did not work??
I don't eat sweets, I drink crystal light sunrise all day long,, I hate water ,and it sometimes hurts the tummy,
I've been doing pretty good and can usually eat most anything, except regular bread. I can usually tolerate a small amount of toasted english muffin or bagel (and I mean very well toasted!), but more than a small bite of any type of soft doughy bread makes me sick. I can eat a bit of pasta, a very small amount of rice (have never been much of a rice eater, so that doesn't bother me that much), small amounts of potato and tolerate crackers, nuts, popcorn and sf candy (small amounts) very well. I have to be really careful with the crackers as they tend to go down very easily - - I carefully measure out a serving or less, then put the package back in the pantry and don't allow myself to go back to get it for any reason!!
I must warn all of us at this 6 - 7 month post op point that we still need to pay attention to what we're eating and chew, chew, chew! I'm usually pretty careful about chewing well, but the other night, I had a bit of steak (fairly tender), which I have tolerated well since about 4 months post op. Well, I must not have been paying attention or something, because I was sick from about 1/2 hour after I ate at 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning. I must have thrown up about 5 times and the last time (yes, the one at 5:00 AM!) finally brought up a small piece of the meat that must have been stuck. Needless to say, I got no sleep that night, but did manage to drag my (now much smaller) behind into work. It was an experience I care not to repeat and, of course, I am paying a lot of attention to chewing since then (and will continue to). If there's one thing this tool teaches you is to PAY ATTENTION to what you are eating! Please do not do what I did - - there's a reason for all that chewing!!
On a better note, this week marked my entry into the one somethings - At 7 1/2 months post op, I'm down 95 pounds. I feel so good and would do this surgery again in a heartbeat! Anyway, take care all my fellow Februarians.

Hello--
At this point, I've been relatively fortunate, I can eat any protein that I choose. Tuna fills me up entirely too quickly (couldn't eat more than 1/2 of my allotted portion), so I stay away from it. But I've had fish, shrimp, chicken, pork, beef, etc without problem. I am still full after my protein, so I don't get in a lot of other foods besides it, but sometimes I'll have a bite or two of a potato or pasta or veggies, or whatever. But that doesn't happen often. I do tend to have either a shake or a bar for at least one of my meals each day, it's the only way I can come close to the protein that my surgeon wants me to get each day. I predominantly drink water each day, if I'm wanting a change of pace, I'll have either Crystal Light, decaf iced tea or gatorade. Last week I had a bit of sugar free apple pie with my lunch, but I truly could have done with out it. It was good, but I would be just as content without it next time.
I've also had one serving of sugar free, fat free vanilla ice cream, and again, I could have done with out. At this point, I really try to avoid the 'empty' calories. I feel as though I'm at a plateau, so I'm really trying to figure out what's changed. I know I've lost inches because clothes are fitting differently, but the scales not budging! Frustrates me! Oh well!
Take care!
I'm having a hard time eating 3 meals and 2 snacks. My b-12 was low and I had start getting shots. I don't dump never have but I try very hard to stay with food high in protein because I feel so weak. I wasn't eating eought food. So I eat alot of meat, chicken, beans ,cheese, liver, peanut butter I was told that I should drink with my food but that so hard to do.
I can eat anything except english muffins, oatmeal and sugar. I haven't tried those things for months and not sure when I will. I still dump on sugar and I like that. I can eat one bite of hubby's dessert from time to time. I boldly tried a bite of an evil, plain cake donut and then went to Curves to exercise. After 2/3 of the way to completion I ran to the bathroom and then every other bathroom for the next few hours. Evil, evil donuts but a great laxitive.

I eat eggs, cheese'onionsand ham turkey and chicken alot.I also eat oatmeal, grits and some candy in moderation.i still dont eat much bread at all as it seems to give gerggly feeling.I love shrimp but real high in cholesteral.Crab legs are the best though.I aslo have pudding and salsa.hope this helped jff
