Anyone else at goal now?

I reached my surgeon's goal for me 2 weeks before the 12th of August! Now what? I negotiated another 12 lbs...am within 8 lbs of that goal. I went to the dietitian to figure out a maintenance eating plan for me. I never thought adding calories would be such a chore, to say nothing of being a frightening experience! Anyone else in the same predicament? Any suggestions? Cheers, Rusty 244/151/143

COngratulations on meeting your goal. I'm not there, and think it will be a very slow go from here. Hugs, Debbie -63

Rusty, Congratulations. How exciting to be at goal. One of the men at our support group achieved his goal within 6 months also. For him, it was a process of adding in calories each day and then adding more if he continued to lose. He did add in more carbs and fruits/veggies. He has successfully maintained for quite a while now. Mary

Hello, I am almost there. I think. On obesityhelp it tells me my normal weight should be 160. I am 167. My doc tells me 148. I think that would be too thin but what i did was figure out where normal weight range is 132-174 and figure i will try to keep it in there. I dont really know if this is the smart thing to do. please let me know how you figured out what to do. kelly

Congratulations! What a big accomplishment. It's interesting to see how different surgeons establish their goal weights. It seems so random. If I'm figuring right, your surgeon must have set your goal weight around 155 (which by the way, seems good to me). Mine on the other hand, despite the fact that we're the same height, wants to see me at 127 (and I have a fairly large skeletal frame). I've just kind of set my own goals and I'm working on meeting those. I may never actually "get to goal" but that's okay with me. I've read through your profile and it seems like you've had a great deal of eating problems. I hope everything is going down and staying down well now! Julie

Like everyone else said, congratulations! I'm not there yet, but less than 30# away now. I'm at 158 and want to be at 130. I'm thinking, with the way my losses have slowed, I will be doing good to make it there by my 1-year anniversary. On the up side, my surgeon said that if I didn't lose another pound, I'm already a success. I've lost over 75% of my excess weight, and where I end up from here is a decision I make by my choices (food, exercise). Take care and I hope you find your happy medium, Linn

Congratulations Rusty. The thought of getting to goal and knowing what to do then is indeed a frightening experience. I like Linn weigh 158 and I want to get to 125. My surgeon thought that was doable at 5'4". I like a lot of you have slowed way down in my weight loss. I have 32 to go and hope to make it by the 18 month date. I'm not sure the 12 month date is possible. But still, I have never weighed 158 pounds - only on my way up to 299! Good luck and continued success to us all. Rust, please keep us informed on your progress with maintenance. Paula

What is this about adding calories? I need to hear more about that. I am not at goal....yet. I have, however, lost 152 pounds so far, and I am 30 pounds away from goal. I hate getting hung up on the goal stuff. I worry about losing weight, or gaining weight each and every day. Then I worry about pouch size, how much I am eating, etc.. I bet everyone does that. I measure success by photos and clothes! I wear a size 10 now, and I used to wear a size 28. A medium petite now, and a 4 xl then. That is good enough for me! Congrats to those who have reached goal! YIPPEE. I hope to be there soon.

Congrats on your goal. I am 5'4" and my dog wants me to get to 112 lbs which I think is crazy!. I was planning on getting to around 130-140 but time will tell... I think I would look anorexic.. (never thought I'd say that.. lol) I am at 180ish now, so only 60lbs to go.. bring it on! all these complements that I recieve these days are so good for my ego Let us know how it all goes. xoxox Lee
