New Member-6 Months Post-Op as of 8/16/04

Hi Everyone, I just joined this group today...look forward to getting to know people and both supporting others and leaning on a few as the need arises. I had my 6 month follow-up yesterday and I'm down 93 lbs!!! (of course my personal goal was 100 but I'm not upset) I'm very pleased with that. I work very hard at not focusing on the numbers and yet I admit it is important to me of course. I had a mini-shopping spree last week which really boosted my confidence. Down from size 28 and 30 pants to 18's (except for a pair of jeans which are a 20 but they did some shrinking.)...tops were 26/28's and are now mostly 16's a a couple 18's. Feels great to actually have flattering shapely outfits. And suprisingly (at least to me) my favorite purchases were my new work out clothes!!! No longer need to use binder clips to hold my pants up!!! I was trying to hold out on buying clothes but now I'm so glad I did buy some...plus they were cheapie Walmart stuff...a lot of bang for your buck! The best part of all of this is how great I feel...how much I actually ENJOY exercising now!?!?!? I still can't believe that one. Plus physically I'm feeling just so much better. Not that I ever had to really bad...the entire post-op period has went well...with only minor frustrations. Okay I've babbled enough for one day I think... Welcome to our group Jennifer. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. I'm so envious of those of you who love to exercise. I know I need to do it, but short of putting a bomb under me, it is the last thing I want to do. Sigh..... It does feel good to get a few new things in smaller sizes. Debbie

Welcome Jennifer. Congratulations on all of your successes. I love having clothes that fit, but agree it can be costly so I watch for sales, good buys etc and just buy enough to get me thru. I like being able to buy smaller sizes too. Such fun, however shopping in the Misses Dept can be a tad bit overwhelming right now for me. But I will adjust I'm sure..... LOL Mary

Jennifer- Congratulations on your success and welcome to the board! Isn't it wonderful to have so many choices when you're shopping now! I was at Kohl's yesterday (they've got some great sales!) with my mom and when I was looking at shirts and sweaters I kept going the plus sizes and my mom kept asking why I was going there, and I said because they fit! She quickly grabbed some larges and x-larges from the regular section and had me try them on and I about fell over when they FIT! How exciting to not HAVE to shop in plus sizes! (Well for pants I still have to, I'm in 20's for most of my pants, but hopefully that'll be short lived!) Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more from you on the board!
