Are You Hypothyroid?
I am hypothryoid and take synthroid everyday. I know I should be exercising for my own health and increased weight loss, but yada yada yada.
I was just wondering if this is also contributing to my slow loss? I know that Julia has lost much more than I have and doesn't exercise very often either. I don't know if she has a thyroid condition though. (I hope you read this Julia) We started out around the same weight too. Just thinking and wondering.
I'm so proud of each one of you. You girls and guys are doing great and continue to amaze me with your success!

Hello sweet lady,
My thyroid is low too......my weight loss to date is -59 pounds for six months.......and I walk six miles every day but Sunday and do water aerobics for 90 minutes five days a week. I feel like I should be a twig now....I walked over 135 miles with a friend last month and lost four pounds. Oh well, I just don't think that strenuous excercise is all everyone claims it to be for months and months. I'm living proof and my feet are still killing me, haha!
Love.
Katherine
Hey! I'm glad you were thinking about me; I was wondering where you've been and was going to go back and track you down.
I started out 18 pounds heavier than you; have lost 18 pounds more than you and right now, WE WEIGH THE SAME THING! and you're right, I don't exercise, but I'm trying to do a little better because the scale isn't moving much any more. I actually walked 3 miles Sunday (Whooo! Katherine makes me tired just reading her postings.)
I think most of it is simply that as you approach the 160-180 pound range, you're alot closer to a realistic, healthy weight and the loss slows significantly.
I don't have thyroid (at least not when last checked) but I do have a significant family history of thyroid problems with all females in my family, so I keep a close watch on it.
I'd love to join the century club, but suspect that I may be approaching a set point in my weight, and frankly, it's not such a bad place to be.
((hugs))
Julie
By the way, you DO need a new picture. I've already seen a new one of you (remember when you sent it?) and you looked great in it and that was months ago. I'm sure you're nothing short of spectacular now.
Debbie,
I take synthroid everyday also, As far as I can tell it has not affected my weight lost at all. That was one of the thing I worried about before surgery. I know being hypo can cause weight gain. My doc said as long as I take my synthroid I should be fine. I will tell you this, my PCP has adjusted my med. since surgery, my th or whatever it's call was somewhat high, but before he did that I was still losing... Do I exercise? What's that?? Nothing like I should. Hang in there, I know it feels slow, but you are where I want to be and you did'nt have as much to lose as me. You're doing great, only 31 more pounds to goal. that's 2 pounds less than me. You'll get there, don't worry.
