Hey everybody, I had my six month check up yesterday. I have been so worried because I have only lost 3 pounds in 12 weeks!! My doctor told me that because I weighed 247 when I had my surgery I would not lose very fast. He told me I've lost 66% of my excess weight and that I may lose 10 more pounds. Of course I can still lose more weight but now the pouch is a tool and it's up to me to get the other 40 pounds off! I'm happy for the 59 pounds I've lost but I was hoping the weight loss ride would have lasted a little longer. Good luck to you guys. L.

Hang in there. I was told 18months with the majority loss in the first year. either way you are a winner or weightloss loser however you look at it! kelly

L., I think it's just going to take some more work. I was also smaller when I had surgery, and the first 4 months weight loss was pretty steady. It's been a lot slower the past 2 months, but it is still happening. Don't give up, keep going on your plan. I've still got over 30# to go to get to goal, so what I'm going to suggest to you and do myself is: concentrate on your eating habits and exercise, and I'm sure you'll get to your goal. One of the things my surgeon mentioned to me during my 6 month and my wife's 1 year check up is that you may still be able to lose weight even when you think you've stopped... BUT it will take a significant amount of work - about 1 hour per day of exercise AND following the 'pouch rules for dummies' which start taking effect at 6 months.

I have faith in you and know you will make it to goal. DON'T GIVE UP, DON'T BELIEVE you've quit losing. Just keep doing things right, exercise and it will happen. I was 255 the day of surgery. I'm down 59 lbs and still am averaging 2 to 3 lbs per week. I plan to get down to 125. I started my journey at 305 (losing 50 lbs before surgery). I know we both will get to goal. Mary
