Soaring Liver Levels.......Help
I am 5 months post-op and my labs have come back high on my liver. My surgeon says that it is normal to have them go up and down with rapid weight loss. He also said that my level has come down since may. My PCP doctor says it's not right. I went to a gastrointoligist and he said the fat goes though the liver and the amount is the reading level. Since I lost alot of weight my liver has to much fat. He said as I ocontinue to get the weight off the level will change. Just for precaution he is having me do a ultrasound of my liver and blood test to make sure that I don't have Stenosis of the liver. He made me a little scared but then he said he didn't think it was that. He is just checking. I am nervous though...
Has anyone else gone though this? Help!!
Thanks for listening~Jill
My liver levels were high and my PCP was nervous and wanted to do all kinds of other tests - my surgeon doublechecked them and said 'considering the surgery, they were not too high', that 'pretty much everyone who is obese enough to have gastric bypass surgery has a fatty liver to BEGIN with' and that he would keep an eye on them and let me know if, given the surgery, they got too high.
Jill this is so funny i have been reading this board and you sound exactly like me. I to have been having problems with elevated liver and pancrease since surgery i am going back for more labs this week. I hope they have gone down my doctor says it is normal after surgery and wont do any further tests but i am worried and wish he would. If all goes well for you let me know.
