20th year reunion! (long)
Hi All,
Just wanted to let you all know how the class reunion went.
I had a wonderful time. It was sooo good to see most of the people there. My class was small (~60) and only about half showed up, so it was pretty intimate. Lots of time to talk to people.
Friday night we had a get-together at the organizer's home. I got lots of compliments on how I looked. It really was wonderful.
Saturday we toured the old and new high schools, and I was informed when I got there that I was the talk of the reunion the previous evening with how good I looked, how smart I was, and what all I've accomplished so far. It was really nice to hear.
I picked up a golf club for the first time in my life and had a blast trying to play 9 holes. I finally connected with the ball on the 9th hole. It was fun.
I wore the new halter dress, and got tons of attention with it. It fit, looked good, and was fun to wear. I got to show off my 2 favorite tattoos that people rarely get to see (I seldom wear camisoles - only have 1 that fits).
I did tell some people I've had gastric bypass surgery and didn't get ANY negative comments about it. In fact, I found out that one other person in my class had it also and lost, get this, 340 POUNDS! It was good to hear that, and good to see that she was having a ball with her life. She was always heavy and is about the same now as she was in school, so I think she's done wonderfully. She does, too. What a blessing. She even says that she got her life back. I was so happy for her.
All I can say is it was so nice to see people that you always liked and just somehow lost touch with. It was SO good for my ego to get all the comments about how beautiful I looked. I can't possibly express how much it meant to me to see these people I always thought were beautiful saying the same thing back to me. I've felt like the ugly duckling most of my life, and finally feel like I've turned into a swan.
My husband took some pictures, so I'll try to find one I like to update on my profile.
Thank you all for listening, and also for all your support.

That's so exciting to hear. This weekend my college room mate (whom I haven't seen in over 24 years) called and is in town. I'm going to meet her for dinner tomorrow night and I can't tell you how grateful I am to have lost nearly 80 pounds before seeing her again!
I hope we have as much fun as you had! I used to try to avoid those kinds of reunions, etc. because I felt so lousy about myself, but now that I'm only 25 pounds heavier than college, I'm really looking forward to seeing her.

Hey Julie,
Isn't that too cool? I love it when things like that happen. You go along in your own little world and then someone calls from out of the blue!
I'm sure you will have lots of fun with your old roommate, and I'm glad to hear you feel lots better about yourself. I understand this all too well. Your progress is so close to mine, I kind of feel like we're two peas in a pod sometimes.
Take care and have a wonderful time.

Linn,
You're so right...we are very similar. Our height is the same; our starting weights were only 6 pounds apart and we've lost exactly the same amount of weight. It's been fun to watch you; makes me feel very normal.
Dinner with my roommate was great! It was like we'd never been apart and we spent 3 hours in the restaurant. Lots of laughter and great memories. By the way, my OTHER roommate was from Missoula, MT!
She currently lives in Virginia as her husband is a chaplain in the navy; it's a long way from Montana.
Hope you have a great day!
Julie
