First, I want to thank everyone *****plied to my previous post. You guys are so supportive. Some of you had asked about swiss ball class. It is a class where we do calistenics (sp???) on a large inflated ball. It is awesome because you use muscle groups that you don't realize you are using just to keep your balance and stablize yourself on the ball. Kind of like Pilates...very controlled movements. Basically some of the moves start where you sit on top of the ball and then roll along until (for example) the ball is at the small of your back and do abdominal crunches, or roll to where it is at your neck and do gluteal squeezes. There are so many exercises that you can do with the ball, but all I know is when I do the same exercises without it, I can't feel the muscle groups that I feel when I do use the ball. Have a great week everyone, Dorothy

Dorothy, I know exactly now what type of exercises you are talking about. Our trainer at the gym had a use the ball for balance and muscle toning too. Have fun. Mary

Hi Dorothy, I just bought a FitBall...from Switzerland. It's the same thing you're using I think. My trainer had me doing a lot of exercises on one at the gym. Then in our support group we had a physical training expert for the American Heart Association come in. She talked about all sorts of exercises but said she'd take the ball for the best all-round exercises. So I bought one and a book of exercises to go with it. Just sitting and watching TV is good exercise. Wonderful! Cheers, Rusty
