How many calories/protien drinks ???
Margaret,
I am 5 months out today!!! just realized that..hehehehe and down 94 pounds. I assume you are asking just to check out what others do but feel I must say to stick to the plan your surgeon gives you.
Now having said that...i will admit that i still drink 2 to 3 of the ready made low carb slim fasts a day.
I was told at my 3 month check up to start getting most of my protein from food....but
I drink one in the morning while getting ready for work and one at night to curb those night time hungers. If i get a little hungry during the day i will add one as a snack. I still get plenty of protein from my food (upwards of 70 a day) the drinks are 20 gr a piece so that usually puts me in the 100+ range for the day.
The reasons I do this: 1. when i tried getting protein strictly from food my weight loss slowed down considerably AND 2. i am being a bit lazy cause it is easier to grab a drink sometimes when i am in a rush and have not prepared a meal.
This works for me but it won't for everyone so again I stress to stick to your docs plan. Kelly
I drink one for breakfast every day, but I've been slacking on the protein. Maybe I'll try adding one at night too to see if an increased protein level will kick up the weight loss again. I'm doing okay, but it's slowed to about 5 lbs. per month, which I guess is normal at this point.
I'm not unhappy with what I've already gotten off, but I'd like to make the most of the next month or so.

The people here on the Feb bd r just 5 mo out so u could post this on the main bd... Anyway i usually don't count cal I know i should but i kidda guess, I still have 2-3 protien dks a day
I eat alot of Lean Cuisine meals I usally get around 700-800 cal a day sometimes less depending on what i've had to eat that day...
I try & not eat any more than 800cal a day & I get most of my cal from the protien dks...

I have taken a drastic approach. I wasn't losing for almost 3 months. So I am doing an all protein diet.
basically it is like this (and only for a few weeks hopefully)
B - 64 oz of crystal light with 1 1/2 scoops of Fuzzy navel and 3-4 oz of meat
L - 64 oz of crystal light with 1 1/2 scoops of Fuzzy navel and 3-4 oz of meat
D - 64 oz of crystal light with 1 1/2 scoops of Fuzzy navel and 3-4 oz of meat
Sometimes I don't get the meat inc ause I am too full.
This is water loading and I do this to fll me up so I don't eat much.
Right now, my calorie intake is 500-600 a day. I was on 1000 and wan't losing at all.
I think I am just carb sensitive cause fruits and veggies also stall my weight loss.
In the last 3 days, I have lost 5 lbs.

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhat???????????? Are you serious?? How can you get that much water in? Honestly, I have been doing like 85-95 oz a day and I thought that was good! I would love to get more water in...how do you find the time to separate the drinking from the meals? How long have you been doing this? 3 days? I am very interested in upping my water intake...but I just don't know how you can do 64oz 3 times a day? WOW...give me some tips! Way to go on your loss, that is great!
Very serious! I drink 64 oz before a meal. It takes me 30 minutes but then after I have about 3-4 of meat. Sometimes I can eat after drinking and some times I can't. Either way I am getting in a lot of protein, water, and very little carbs.
I was desperate, so I tried this on the advice of someone who as been through months of not losing.
Thank you Hon,
Joanne
I'm 21.5 weeks out (so just over 5 months). I don't do protein shakes any longer, have been doing 1 or 2 bars a day (each approximately 150 calories and 15 grams of protein). I haven't been counting calories but do watch that I get in enough protein. I stay away from sugar (except in protein bars), high fat etc.

Hi there.
My surgery was 2/2/04, so I'm nearly 6 months out. I drink 1 protein drink per day, most days. And it's just an 8 oz Advant Edge drink. Otherwise I get all of my protein through regular food, and I get in between 90 and 100 grams of protein per day. I eat about 1200 calories per day. I've lost 96 pounds since surgery.
When I stop losing, I pay attention to how much I'm eating and drinking. If I don't get enough calories, water and/or protein in, my losing stops. (My body must go into starvation mode or something.) I'm a very very active person, and my nutritionist has encouraged me to keep on doing whatever I'm doing - as my labs are great and weightloss speaks for itself.
P.S. I do take 3 Flintstones and 3 calciums spread out throughout the day and evening.
Good luck honey! Ruthanne
