Eating More
Tina,
It is common to be able to eat more now since our tummies are completely healed. I feel hunger too many times. Just try not to give in to old habits, they are so easy to relearn. I find that I do well by having breakfast, lunch, sometimes a snack mid afternoon, dinner, sometimes a snack mid evening. I try to make the snacks healthy choices. Find drinking fluids help curb the appetite too.

I was just to the Dr. yesterday and he asked me if I was still eating about 4oz. He said that is about 1/2 cup and I said well mabye a little over it.I know I am eating over it but, I don't think 1 cup it too much. The dietition was there giving a class to new post-ops and she mentioned that if you feel hungry in between meals to eat fruit and veggies at that time. I find it very easy for me to go back to old habits. Some days I do eat more than the proper amount, but I think I balance it out. Good luck to all........ Marion
I'm still never hungry, but I hear some of the food in the cupboard calling my name still. I have a big fight with myself not to snack. In all honesty, I do give in and have a snack at times. Gotta get outta that behavior...at 6 months we're all 'sposed to be feeling hunger pains more often, aren't we? Something like that anyway...
Cheers,
Rusty
Hello,
I still have no appetite, and am not eating more than 4 ounces in a meal. (depending on the food, some fills me more quickly than others.) I'm mainly eating proteins, with very little carbs, veggies, etc. My surgeon was pretty direct on us getting in proteins first, then other foods if I've got room. Since I still don't, I don't worry about getting in the other stuff yet.
There have been times where I've had the desire to 'crunch' something, so I've had a few pretzels (3 over an hour or so) or some cashews, but really try to avoid the snacking. When I feel those old habits trying to re-surface, I try to get something to drink or find something to occupy myself. It seems to work for now. We'll see how much longer it does.
Thanks. I'm glad I'm not alone. Each night is a struggle but I'm determined to win this battle. My doctor doesn't have a follow up program. So it is hard. His only suggestion was not to eat any carbs. Carbs make us want to snack. I need to start weighing my food. This is what I eat in a day.
B -- Protein shake
L --- Boar'sHead lunchmeat w/cheese or Left over protein
Low carb yogurt.
Dinner -- Protein, Veg or Salad and carbs.
After 7:30 -- Head Hunger -- I just want to snack.
Thanks again.
Tina
