Vacation Spot
Hello to my fellow Februarians. I am hoping you all are happy, healthy and safe in your place in this world. I have a question and since it seems we are spread out around the US, possibly you can help me.
I am searching out vacation spots for next summer (2005) for my family. My family consists of my parents, my brother and his wife and their three kids who will be 5,3 and 1 next summer. My sister and her husband and their son who will be 2 next summer. My husband and I will have our daughter who will be almost 4 next summer, I also hope to be pregnant. We aren't big on the beach, although one close by would be nice. We will be coming from Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg (PA) and don't want to drive more than 8 hours to get there. We'd enjoy shopping, dining, seeing interesting sites, playing with the kids, swimming in a pool, etc. Anyone have any ideas. OBX is out because of traffic to get there. Any nice family spots? To spend about a week??????
Enjoy!

Denise,
We are going to Baltimore's Inner Harbor this year, but we've never been there before. I have heard that it is great - a lot to see and do. There is also alot for the kids - Discovery Zone, a big aquarium, a science center, etc. There are also a lot of great restaurants - Hard Rock, Midevil Times, etc. We are going next week, so I'll let you know when we get back!
Good luck!

Denise, What about Busch Gardens in Virginia? It's about 6 1/2 hours from Pgh. and about the same from Harrisburg. I know there are young kids but if you go to the Busch Gardens web site, they will show you the rides, events and activities available for different age groups. My family went there one summer when my kids were young and we all had a great time. I think there are a lot of fun things to do in the northeast. There is always Niagra Falls. I'm not sure that the little kids would appreciate it as much as the adults though. There are lots of nice places to stay in the area though. Good luck with your planning. It can be frustratrating until you decide where to go but it can also be fun to look ahead and plan.

I'm jealous...I live in OK; nothing to do...It is getting a little better though, they have built an aquarium here in Tulsa, and we are suppose to be getting a BASS PRO shop (woohoo. of course, it makes my hubby happy!) and they are also building this HUGE free standing statue of "The American" which is a native american sculpture. it is suppose to be bigger than the Statue of Liberty when it is completed.
OUR plans for vacation are to go to Alaska to visit my bro & sis in law. Can't wait for that!!
