Hello-- My surgery was on February 2, and I've been thrilled overall with my progress. I haven't weighed myself in about3 weeks, almost a month but prior to that I had lost about 93 pounds since surgery and another 12 before that. I know that I've lost weight since then, and I'd gage it to be somewhere around another 10+ pounds. I'm not sure why I haven't been weighing myself, but as I've been working out daily and maintaining everything else, I'm comfortable with monitoring how my clothes are fitting. I go back to the doctor for my 6 month check up in late August (it's more like a 6 and a half month check-up) and I've got a goal in my head of where I want to be, so I'm doing my damndest to make it to there. One thing about me, I've got major determination when I set a goal, so I should be there. Of course I was quite disappointed a few weeks ago when I told a friend who had the surgery in 2003, that I wanted to lose another 30 pounds or so before my next appointment and she told me that might be too ambitious! Talk about kicking my determination even further into gear! I'll show her! Or maybe I'll show me! I find it difficult to not compare myself to other's weight loss, but as everyone else has said, we're all different and I have to remind myself of that. I've rambled long enough and need to get back to work! Michelle

I had my surgery Feb 3, 2004 and i've only lost 60lbs. my weightloss is very slow and my inches are even slower . I don't know about the theory of the heavier you are the faster you lose because I was 356lbs when I went in for surgery and I am barely at 296 now W/o clothing on..I too am unhappy with the surgery right now.. Hi everyone. My surgery was February 25. 2004 and I've lost 62 since then. I lost 80 pounds before surgery so I've lost over 140 pounds. I feel soooo much better. Life is just so much easier. I still want to lose another 60 pounds. I know I'll get there. I'm very happy that I had the surgery. Linda L.

Hey Kim, I'm with the others that say not to judge your success by others'. I had surgery the same day as you. I've lost 70-73# (depending on the day). I've been on a 5-week plateau, but I exercise very intensely. I started at 241 in size 18-20 and now am aboout 170 and wearing 11/12 pants and still size L shirts. I've lost over 65% of my excess weight and am in the overweight category for the first time in over 8 years. That said, I consider my surgery a success. I jog and am planning on running in a 5K in October and then start some swimming training for a triathlon next summer. I couldn't have considered doing any of this without surgery. I would still like to lose another 40# by my first year anniversary and I'm also frustrated with my lack of weight loss this past month, but I'm still convinced it will all come together. Take heart, you aren't alone in either your weight loss or your feelings. Linn

My journey started when I was 352 lbs. My consult weight was 340. The day I had surgery which was 2/2/04 I weighed 326. I now weigh 241. That is from the start of my journey I have lost 111 lbs. from the day of my consult I have lost 94 lbs. From the day I had surgery I have lost 85 lbs. I am glad of my weightloss whether it be more or less. As long as I lose something I am satisfied. My weightloss has slowed the last 2 months though. My goal is to be 180 or less if possible.

Kim, I had my surgery on 2\24 and I have lost 107# since. I started out at 307#. I have hit a plateau and have not lost anything for about 2 weeks, that is so frustrating! I have not been measuring inches, but I think that I might start. Congrats on your loss!! I just figure....it didn't go on overnight, and it is not going to come off overnight either. God bless my fellow losers! Joy Renee 307/200/-107

Well, I'm going to make everyone feel even better now, lol. I had surgery on 2/12/04 & have lost 67 lbs to date & started out on day of surgery @ 365. However, 5 years ago I was 467 went down to 227 & back up to 365. So, I guess if you look at that accomplishment thats not to bad. But now that I have had surgery I wish I had lost more then 67. But I will get there (hopefully). I'm going to try everyday to get back into my "daily" walking routine because I really feel that will be my "ticket" for good and steady losses. It's just that since surgery I'm so darn tired I do go to curves but I think walking is till better. Congratulations! to all of you on your losses.
