I just wanted to put an update together. Things are going very well in the post surgery world. Since my surgery in February, I have lost 68 pounds and feel great. I have to get myself motivated to get out there and walk but by the time I finish mowing lawn, caring for our horses and taking care of the kids, during my summer off, I have very little energy left. Let me know what some of you guys do for exercise. Hope everyone out there is enjoying there new lives. Deb

Deb, Sounds like you are doing great! I am going to the gym for exercise. I have a cardio and weight training program that I follow and honestly if I did not go to the gym I would not keep up with my exercise at all. It is harder to make myself go now that it is summer - I want t be outside! So I try to incorporate both outdoor activities with the gym. I had surgery 2/27/04 and have lost 73 pounds so far. Liz

Right now my exercise has been packing, cleaning, packing, cleaning. I work on the house from morning till night most days (and sneak away to the computer when I need a break). Can't wait till we move to AZ, Hal's promised me a pool when we buy our home there. Then you will find me in the pool from morning till night .... LOL Mary

I'm officially down 70#, have been there for about a month. I, too, have to go to the gym or I wouldn't exercise, and it has to be in the morning before work. Right now I am doing a walk-to-jog program for 30 minutes a day. This week it's jog 4 min walk 1, but I always walk a little before and after my 30 minutes. From here on out I increase jog time each week with 1 minute walks in between. I prefer doing this at the gym because the treadmills are easier on my knees. After I'm closer to my goal weight, I'll start doing some weight training. I want to do a 5K in October, so I'm into the running for now. Other things I do for recreation: mountain bike, hike, play horseshoes. These are generally weekend activities separate from the weekday workouts. Linn

Hello! I too am having a great experience since surgery! I haven't weighed myself in about 3 weeks, but at that time I was down 93 pounds!! I'll weigh myself sometime, but have no desire to do so. I'm following the guidelines and getting in my protein, exercise, water and vitamins, so I know I'm still losing. Plus clothes are getting baggier! I was on vacation in Seattle a few weeks ago, and my friends couldn't stop commenting on how much energy I currently have (I've always had a lot, but it's even more now!) As for exercise, I have been walking 2-4+ miles at least 4-5 times a week, most often more. Just recently I've been doing a "Walk away the pounds, 3 mile work out" DVD, and let me tell you, talk about a work out! Whew, I sweat like crazy! And I feel fantastic afterward! I also do some ab work every night before bed. Total of about 150 crunches/sit-ups. So, I'm pretty happy with what I've been accomplishing. Once I finally drag myself to the scale, I'll post an update. Michelle
