Hello everyone, Here is another question. I had read about some of you going to Fitday.com and keeping a journal online. Well, I went there and put in the foods that I had eaten today. Trouble is they didn't have the portions that I ate their portions were much bigger. So, as a result it said that I had had 1125 calories, 63 grm of fat, 59 grams of carbs and 78 grams of protein. Now, the protein on I was all excited about because I am afraid that I am not getting enough protein because the drinks and bars make me sick. But the fat and carbs on I see looks really high to me. Can someone help me. Thanks Noelle 326/240/120

I don't journal on fitday but have gone there to look up food items. There is a way to customize the food so the quantity agrees with the quantity you consumed. Then you can save that food quantity and results to use again later. If you are wanting to keep your cholesterol in normal ranges, you should be eating 30% or less of your calories in fat. Each gram of fat is equal to 9 calories so 63 grams of fat = 567 fat calories or 50% fat. Carbs to maintain a low carb diet should be 30 grams or less a day. Protein .. you need an absolute minimum of 60 grams a day to maintain muscle mass. Your heart is a muscle so this is very important. When I last saw my dietitian, she said for me ... that I should do 75 to 125 grams of protein a day so it does vary person to person. Just don't get under 60 grams and ask your surgeon what he recommends. Hope this helps. Mary

When you pick a food you ate, in the list of foods you picked you can change the amount there. I always pick fuzzy navel (customized food) and when it shows up on my list it says I drank 1 liter. I just change it to oz and type in 8. Then I click save changes. Hope this helps. Joanne
