I have been reading and trying to figure this one out. I would like to know what my fellow Februarians have heard or think. Which one is more critical to limit: Carbs or Fat grams??? The carbs I am talking about are not from sugar, but from starches. Also, if you have the information, what should the limits be per day? Thanks for any comments, Dorothy

Dorothy, Hal has high cholesterol so we are pretty conscious of the fat in foods trying to keep it at 30% or lower in things we buy or make. I've done this for years. Now I also try to control the carbs. I would say 20 to 40 a day. I'm not eating any rice or pasta but have had bread and potatoes (in limited amounts). I do get minimal carbs in fruit and veggies. My protein bars have carbs too, but the protein bars never seem to trigger eating for me as does the other other carbs. I found as a pre-op that when I ate no bread, no potatoes, no rice and no pasta that my cravings disappeared. I'm finding I'm more hungry now and am trying to eliminate the bread from my diet and the ocassional potato. So my response is that both are important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Mary
