How far are you from *goal*?

I know we had a thread about how much we have lost so far, but I was curious as how close we all are to goal, and when do you think you will make goal? I have been charting my weight on the www. thinnerself. com website. I'm loosing at an 83% expected weight loss. It varies every week according to how much I loose. The only thing I didn't like is that it put my desireable weight at 112 or 117 (I think) but they also have the average weight goal for my age and it was around 150, and my personal goal is 135ish. I have tracked my weight loss with the tool they have here and I'm almost on target. I didn't loose as much one month, but I should be very close to the 60 lb goal they have me for my 5 month anniversary. I'm sure I won't be 60, but close. They charted out my weightloss to take 18 months. Basically I'm over half way to goal. I have read several times that we should loose half of what we expect to loose by our 4 month anniversary and then the other half in the 12 -18 month period. Do you agree? Just curious. 229/174/130-140ish down 55 with 34 to 44 to go. I have only lost 3 lbs this month so far, so it will be a long go. Sigh...... Debbie

I started at 242; and am at 181 now. I would like to FINISH at around 140-150. I don't want to look like a supermodel...I'm a 36 yr old MOM!!! It seems that slow and steady wins the race with me since surgery. I haven't seen any BIG jumps after that first 2 weeks, just 2-3 lbs over about a week...level off for a week or so, then 2-3 more. I just hope that I am able to meet my goal!! Sherri C 242/181/140 -61 RNY 2/16/04

Sherri, I was the one who asked about your stats since we're so similar. My weight: 247/179/140 Lap RNY 2/12/04 We seem to have started same time/ close weight/ and we're taking it off at almost exactly the same rate. Hope you're feeling half as good as I am! Julie

Debbie...this is a great thread! I also use www.thinnerself.com and I'm losing at a 93% expected weight loss (at least right now). I completely understand about the "desireable" weight because they have me at 128 pounds which is completely ridiculous if you could see my bone structure (my surgeon says 135). Average weight for my age/height is 163 according to them and that sounds good to me. Personally, I'd like to be 145 (my marriage weight @ age 20). I'd be thrilled, very very thin and quite comfortable there. Using the weight planner on this site, I'm about a month ahead and that's been consistently the same. I also have been told (by my surgeon and other post-op friends) to expect to lose half my excess weight in the first 6 months and I'm well past that since I've lost 70 of my excess 112. So, after all of that...based on my "personal" goal, I need to lose another 43 lbs....just about the same as you and I'm figuring it will take at least another year to do so. Julie P.S. This is fun because neither of my kids (ages 20 & 23) EVER remember me being this thin and they're shocked everytime they see me.

Girl, you'll be at goal by Sept. or Oct. ;) I'm shooting for Jan or my Feb. with my slow loss, but hey I'm enjoying the ride. I find myself not worrying as much on how much I have lost. I should be freaking that I have only lost 3lbs this month, but I'm not. I know it will dribble off for several more months, and then some beyond my 1yr. anniversary. Debbie -55

I know what you mean about "enjoying the ride." Once you get some weight off, it's so much fun to go shopping (still can't wear everything I'd like, but ...oh well) that it's getting easier not to obsess over the next time the scale moves. I'd be pretty happy right where I am if I have to stay here. Julie

I started out at 291 and now I am at 224. My personal goal is about 150 to 165. So I have from 59 to 74 lbs more to lose. I just hope I can make it. My worst fear is that I am one of those people that WLS doesn't work for. So far so good though, 67 lbs down so I guess I can say I am about half way there. Let's give ourselves an applause for what we have accomplished so far. Annette -67

Why are you worrying it won't work for you? It ALREADY HAS! You're more than half way already and you've got nowhere to go but down. Julie

I have lost 59 pounds. I want to lose a total of 129. So I have 70 pounds more to go. At 155 pounds my BMI will be "normal" so that's what I'm basing my goal on. I lost about 80 pounds prior to surgery. So about 3 years ago I was at my highest weight of 360ish (The doctor's scale didn't go higher). I get depressed when I think I still have to lose 70 pounds but then I look at the picture on my driver's license and I see I person I don't know anymore. It puts it in perspective for me. It's hard though for me not to be obsessed with my weight and getting to goal. I hope this made sense! Linda
