Hello all. I had my surgery 2-9 and have lost 93lbs. I started out at 340 and am at 247 now. On april 9 i also had to have a complete hystorectomy. Just about everything that i eat makes me nauseas. i have noticed an improvement in that over the last week. It got so bad that i only eat once a day. I did my protien drinks faithfully in the beginning until i became lactose intolerant. I can't find a drink that i like. All of my blood work has been good. protien levels fine. I had a head full of thick but fine hair. for the last month it has been coming out steadily. I have had several bladder infections (pretty severe ones). I drink like a fish(water that is). I have on average lost about 20lbs a month. The last few days i have been experiencing dizzy spells. Sometimes i have to grab the wall to steady myself. My sugar is fine and my blood pressure is normal for me which is 110/60. Anybody similar to me? I would also like to know about how much can everyone else eat at one sitting. Any replys would be appreciated. thanks

Becky, I'm so sorry to hear you are having problems. Did you have a protein drink that you really liked that you made with milk? If yes, have you tried making it with water instead? I made all my protein drinks with water even as a pre-op. They are a little richer with milk, but no real difference. Also you can buy lactaid milk (milk without the lactose) at most grocery stores. That may work for you too. UTIs seem to be more common in WLS, but the reason I had read was because we tend to not get enough fluids in for our bodies. Are you taking any type of blood pressure meds? When I had dizzy spells the two things they were concerned about was dehydration and my blood pressure meds. Now I am totally off the BP meds and feel great. If it is definitely not either of those, be persistant with your doctor to do more testing that being this dizzy is not acceptable. Might also have your ears checked. Inner ear infections can affect our balance or cause dizziness too. My mom is always dizzy after flying and it can last for weeks. Have you flown lately? If yes, there are meds they can give you to help. Sorry, no real answers for you ... just lots of suggestions/questions. You are doing wonderful with your weight loss. Congratulations. Mary

Thanks for replying. I am not on any blood pressure meds. I haven't been flying in years. I am going to talk to the doc about the ear infection though. Thats the only thing that i can think of. I've got my 4 month follow-up on the 30th. If it don't get better before then i will talk to him. Again thanks.

Becky - your weight loss is fantastic!!! I have also been having dizzy spells, for a few months now. When it happens it almost feels like i'll pass out, but im usually able to breathe through it and steady myself. Ive got to get my lab work done to see if im dficient in anything. My surgeon told me i turned up anemic preop, so maybe its that. I hope you feel better tho!! Rachel 270/209
