i went to see my PCP on tuesday for my edema in my lower extremeties, breathing problems, etc. He put me on Lasix for the swelling. I have never taken a dirutetic before but i was willing to try anything that helped the swelling in my legs and feet. Haven't noticed a big difference in my bathroom trips yet but have felt a little dizzy off and on. i went out at lunch time and started seeing little spots so i turned around and came back to work. i ended up putting my head down and taking a 30 minute nap. woke up feeling ok. someone at work said that if your BP is normal Lasix could cause your BP to drop. I also realized that i had only had a protein drink, a table spoon of PB and some nuts today (busy morning). Maybe it was my blood sugar? has anyone else had this?

I'd think it was more the BP. My mom has taken Lasix along with her BP meds a couple of times to help bring it down. You may want to call the doctor and ask about the dizziness. Maybe you just need a lower dose. Julie

hey there, how are you doing? i had posted to several items here this week and emailed but i wasn't getting any confirmations. at first i thought i had ticked my fellow Feburarians off and then i had friends calling me saying that their email was blocked by my email. so i don't know what the hek is going on with it but figured i might have missed some stuff. Hope things are going great for you this week. Kelly

Lasix are commonly used to help lower blood pressure, so it really could be the BP is too low. Also dizziness can also be a sign of dehydration. Did you get enough fluids in and has the doctor asked you to drink more fluids because of taking the lasix or drink the same amount. If the dizziness continues tomorrow, call or get in to the doctor. Sorry you are feeling yucky. I have taken lasix before. (went to one of those "diet dr.s") and boy did I feel like a wrung out dish rag. I didn't have any energy and just plain listless. I imagine the dizziness is from the low blood pressure. Hope you feel better soon. Debbie -53

you might want to make sure that your potassium levels are ok....I know that you CANNOT take potassium @ the same time as lasix because it will be flushed out of your system, for obvious reasons . If your levels are low, it can cause dizziness, etc. Just a thought BTW....I have lost 61 lbs....just had to WOOOOHOOOO Sherri C 242/181/140 RNY 2/16/04
