I saw my doctor today. I have lost 70 pounds. Which I am happy. He did tell me I have to exercise 30 minutes every day. I have only been going to curves 3 times a week. (I have very bad knees) He also told me to eat more protein and no carbs. I had a very very small potato and carrots with my pork yesterday and he told me not to eat them at all on ly the protein. I still want to snack at night which is frustrating. He told me to eat cashews or peanuts because they have protein. My iron is low but he didn't seem to concern told me I could take an iron vitamin daily. My white blood count is still high so I need to go to a specialist to for my blood. I am going in July. My white blood count was also high in February before my surgery. Tina

Congratulations on your weight loss. You are doing GREAT. I'm surprised at no carbs. I try to stay at 20 or below so that I can have veggies/fruit in moderate amounts and also my protein bar. My surgeon says absolutely no nuts of any kind, but I know many surgeons allow them. Trader Joes has some great prices on nuts, as a pre-op I ate cashews and got them there. I have a great idea for a snack ... sweet, crunchy, and tastes great: a sugar free snow cone I make snow cones quite often. They satisfy the need to crunch, are filling, no calories, no carbs. If I use regular ice cubes, I use sugar free syrup (Torani or DaVinci brands). OR I take raspberry peach crystal light and make ice cubes with it and then run those ice cubes thru the snow cone maker. Works great and is so yummy. Mary

Re: Nuts Our dietician never mentioned them, so I've had some occasionally. But yesterday, I ate 10 almonds and thought I was going to die. I've never gotten that sick or had that much pain from any food since surgery. I threw up for over an hour and felt lousy for another hour after that...and all AT THE OFFICE!!! ick! I think I'll take a pass for a while. Julie

If nuts aren't chewed thoroughly they can block the stoma which can cause pain, cramping, vomiting. For now, I'm going to avoid nuts totally. I know many people at our support group use them as a source of protein and as an emergency stash for their purse and many surgeons say they are OK to eat in moderation because of the high fat of most of them. Hope you are feeling better today. I understand totally the desire to stay away from them after yesterday. Mary
