morning all, i just had to share that i could not take the baggy shorts anymore!!! I have been able to get dress slacks and jeans from the Goodwill but not casual clothes. i went to the mall on my lunch hour and to my favorite store...CJ Banks to look for a couple of pair of shorts. i picked out size 22 and then got some size 20s..thinking that MAYYBEEEE. tried them all on...22s TOO BIG...20s FIT OK BUT A LITTLE BIG....so i went out and got 18s and they fiiiiiitttttt. i have not been in an 18 for probably 10 to 12 years!!! I can tell the sizes have definately changed. i am 5'6, started out at 281, now weigh between 220 and 223 depending on the time of day and i am in an 18!!! I cannot believe it! i am just so thrilled! Now the downside.....the shorts were 35.00 ON SALE. i didn't buy them but they sure felt good while i had them on!!

Kelly, How exciting!!!!! Congratulations. I had a similar experience yesterday with long fancy dresses. I grabbed the 22s (I originally wore 30/32/4X) and a couple of 20s just in case. The 22s were too big and the 20s fit over my jeans so I'm pretty sure the 18s would of been a perfit fit since it was a straight dress, however I didn't want to tempt the fates. Hal told me I could buy the dress (he loved how sexy I looked in it) and we would have a special night out, but I put it back. It was 1/2 off but still $80. The important thing was that my ego felt wonderful. I haven't wore an 18/20 since high school. I'm down 90 lbs, weigh 215. When I graduated 34 years ago I weighed 205, so only 9 more lbs to go!!!! I can wait to get to 205 so I will weigh less than when I graduated. Mary

Isn't this wonderful!!! i honestly do not remember the last time i weighed this close to 200. i have always felt like i went straight from 160 (early teens) to 280!! My drivers license still says 150 so i know i weighed that when i turned 16!!!hahahahahhahaaa. Another reason, besides price, that i didn't buy the shorts is because the closer i get to smaller sizes the more of a selection i will have at different stores. i am so programmed to buy something that fits and i like no matter what the price cause the bigger sizes are harder to come by and the stores know they can mark them up so much! I don't usually count the 20 pounds that i lost on my own prior to surgery but we certainly should cause it is pounds lost then i would be close to 80 pounds!!! again i am repeating myself but this just blows my mind!

Definitely feel free to repeat yourself, I understand totally. We always accepted the item because it fit. What a change now, to really have choices!!! The other thing I've noticed is that I feel cute in clothes now, can't say that I did before. I always dressed nicely, but can't say I felt cute. Absolutely count the 20 lbs you lost before surgery!!! You worked hard to get that off too. I count each and every ounce that I have lost. I lost 50 before surgery, 40 since for a total of 90 lbs. We had a short discussion on the counting of pounds that were lost before surgery before our support group meeting started on Saturday. Most agreed you should count each and every pound as you worked hard for them too and they are just as much of an accomplishment. Mary

Kelly, that is great! Go to WM and get some inexpensive shorts. I love the skorts I bought and they were under $10.00. They really look sassy. I didn't wear 18's when I had my surgery and I weighed 229. I wore 22's. I swear being a shorty stinks sometimes. My SIL is 5'6" and she is in 6 and 8's. She is down to 148 and started out at 273. Just think how sassy you will be. Debbie -52 for the past 20 days! UGH!!!

Ohhhh debdebdeb...in order to do that i would actually have to drive to our superfreakin'walmart, park, and go in!!! I call WM the store from HEdoublehockeysticks!!! There is very seldom a time when that place is not wall to wall people. can you tell i have a crowd/walmart phobia???? hahahahaha....i appreciate the advice though and i guess i could get up early in the am and go around 6:30. It might not be so crowded then. I usually hit walmart about once a year. I have been going there a little more often since surgery to get my protein drinks but if i see them on sale somewhere else i will hit two other stores just to avoid WM. i did go to Kmart last week and bought a pair of khaki shorts for around 7.99 but i gotta tell you they are not something i would normally wear if i could pick and choose. however, they will work for a couple of weeks. I do like the sassy comment!!! my family would say that i am already sassy...at least my mouth is! also i am hanging with you with the not losing anything for several weeks again. i am heading out in about 20 minutes to go see my primary about my edema issues and will weight on their scales to be sure but it isn't looking good so far....take care.

I understand not wanting to go to WM. I dread it too. I have a cute pair of capri's that are too big for my 6 year old, and I have said I was going every night for a week. They are still on my sofa. Sigh.... Besides, I spend too much while I'm there. I always see things I *need*. Debbie -53

I LOVE CJ Banks...I had alot of their sweaters before I had surgery and I sold most of them on E-bay. I haven't even been in since surgery, but I may go tonight while my husband is out! Yippee! Julie

That is wonderful! I had a moment like that recently. I started out at a tight 28 before surgery and 3 1/2 months later I just bought an 18 skirt. It is still a bit snug but it was on major sale so I went ahead a got it. I can button it and zip it without holding my breath but I think a few more pounds will have it fitting correctly. I am amazed - I think the last time I wore an 18 was in high school. Have you tried Cato's or Fashion Bug? These are ususally pretty reasonable and if you catch a sale - it is a real deal. I also like Marshall's and Ross but you have to search for the good stuff. Liz
