Liver enzymes?

Has anyone else had their ALT/AST (used to be called SGOT/SGPT) levels off (ie: a little high)? My regular RNP pointed out that the levels are a 'bit elevated' tonight during my followup for 3 mos, but didn't have any idea if the surgery would elevate them.. I plan on emailing/asking the surgeon as well what he thinks, but would appreciate any other feedback y'all have. Thanks. ...Nick

Nick, All of my lab work has come back normal so far. If you go to the library, do a search on Liver http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/dbsearch.phtml then scroll down, you will find a number of posts on elevated liver enyzmes. Hope that helps. Mary

Mine were elevated at one month and began leveling off at month three. According to my surgeon it is normal for them to be high becasue of the stress of the surgery on the liver, gallbladder etc. It sometimes takes up to 6 months for them to return to normal. Oh, and since most of us had fatty livers to begin with it sometimes takes a while for things to return to a more normal level.
