hair loss
I keep mine medium length - and my Dr has me on prescription pre-natal vitamins, and told me I needed to find some way to increase my caloric uptake. I did that, and the loss has slowed some. I haven't added all that much food, but I find that if I forget my vitamin for a couple days, the hair starts coming out again.
Yep, Kate, my hair is shedding too. I'm down 65 and I'm getting in all my protein, vitamins, iron, calcium, B12, biotin, water, food and labs are fine. I think if you're hair loser, its just gonna have to run its course. I feel great except when I look in the mirror. I fear I will look like Charlie Brown one morning. Don't think there's anything extra I can do to avoid this. I hear it is temporary and that it will come back. I hope so, because I have a head like a bowling bowl and wigs just don't fit me. Not that I'd wear a wig, I hate even hats and having a wig on all day would be the ultimate in discomfort for me.
Congratulations on your success. We can be bald together.

I'm losing some hair too, but not in handfuls. It's more like a slow steady decline but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse so I'm hopeful. I was initially told that the key to minimum hair loss was to get in all of your protein FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. Taking in protein during the hair loss at 3-4 months will help make the duration shorter, but will not help with the hair loss resulting from protein deficiency immediately after surgery.
So I made sure to have a minimum 7-80 grams of protein from 4 days post-op on. I'll let you know if they were right or wrong.

I've noticed more shedding when I'm washing and drying, but it isn't alarming yet. It is more annoying than anything, as I have very dark hair. Even clean dark hair looks more disgusting everywhere than blonde. I just hope it doesn't get in the food I prepare. I'll have to be more watchful.
