Airplane seats

My husband and I are flying to Orlando for a wedding in 2 weeks. The last time I was on a plane was our honeymoon (4 years ago) and I squeezed my butt into the seat and could not fit the seatbelt around me, big shock, huh?! My hips hurt for 2 days. I wonder if the experience will be better this time. Can I walk straight through the aisle instead of the old side step? Can I sit in the seat and cross my legs? Can I put the tray table down? Can I wear the seatbelt? has anyone else flown and fit better in the seats? I got weighed Friday and am down 58.5 pounds, yeah me!!!!!!!!! How is everyone?

Denise, I'm going to say the absolute obvious. You're doing well. So, if you're 58.5 pounds smaller and your clothes fit better, so will that airplane seat. Like all clothes, my size 2 yellow polka dot bikini is still too small, but it fits better than it did before and so will that airplane seat for you. Congratulations on your accomplishment and just have fun on your trip. Windy

please ask the flight attendant for a seat belt extender if you need one. i had to do this several times and each time the attendant was gracious and they even "slipped" the extender to me so that i could avoid being embarassed. if you can't get the seat belt to close, you could be hurt and you're worth being safe.... i feel sure i won't have this problem anymore but i won't be flying until next month. however, i now fit into a booth at chili's and i fit into a student desk/chair for the first time in years.........

Denise, I know what you are talking about! That was one of my first goals (believe it or not!). I got on a plan about 1 1/2 months after surgery and it was amazing!!!! I sat in the seat comfortably and was able to fasten the seatbelt with some extra to boot! I felt so good about it I took a picture with my cell phone! Silly I know, but it was a big accomplishment for me and it just made me feel great! Good luck to you and just have fun.... you're on a path of wonderful weight loss and don't let anything or anyone spoil that for you!!!! Congrats on the weight loss!!!!

Can anyone cross their legs in most airline seats today??? Or put down the tray table (especially if the person sitting in front of you reclines their seat)??? My guess is you'll be a LOT more comfortable, and, if not this trip, the next one will be without any trouble. I used to travel on business alot, and needed the seat belt extension and upgraded a lot to First class (ah those free upgrades -- the best use for frequent flier miles). I am flying again for the first time post op in June and I am hoping to be able to ditch the belt extension for good. BTW, from a frequent flier, I've noticed that Boeing planes (717, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777) seem to have longer belts than Douglas planes (MD 80 series, MD11). So the need for the belt extender may be just as much a factor of who built the seats as it is how much you've lost. Congrats on losing so well, and have a fun and beautiful trip
