ok just need to vent a little. someone posted a few days ago, think it was Miss Mary...(where is she today by the way)....ok back to my post....about trying the atkins crunchers. I was all for it cause i love crunchy stuff. i went to the local walgreens. they had the little bags of them that are the size of the .50 vending machine chips....each bag was 1.99 yes that is right 1 dollar and 99 cents...i am sorry but i just can't bring myself to do it. i am not really cheap just POOOOORRRRR!!!LOL! so i guess i am going to have to stick with nuts when i want something crunchy. My point here is this...have you all noticed the price of low carb food? i saw a regular full size bag of a low carb snack chip for 4.59 cents. the normal version of this would have been probably 2.39....ok i am done now thanks for listening. kelly

YES! I totally agree with you! Even though I eat less, my shopping bill has not gone down. I'm buying low card foods and paying more! It's just not right. I found some low carb tortilla chips (high in protein!) and they cost over $3 a bag and the bag is not very big, maybe 1/2 the size of a regular bag of Dorito's. But, I truly love them and buy them anyway. Just have to tell the kid and hubby to stay away from them...they like em too. I also go turned on to Atkins Advantage bars. My fav is the choco mocha (can't remember the exact name). It's do delicious! But, now I have to find them online in bulk...buying them at Safeway was outrageous! I think I paid $4.98 for 3...and that was a deal! I'm right there with you Kelly! ~Carrie

Hvae you had the Atkins Crunchers???? Word of wisdom from me they are like little pieces of cardboard. One a week i allow myself one bag the 25cent bag of chips...No tempting me with a big bag,,,but i never finish the whole thing. I like the low carb tortilla chips but if you buy baked totilla chips then the calories come way down. Remember it is not like we can eat a whole bag of anything anymore.....And try some online suppliers if you want them anyway. Synergy Diet has some really good deals and have great products my six months on atkins pre-op made me a huge fan of their low carb breads and tortillas.

Ohhhh thank Gosh they suck!!! now i feel really good about not paying 1.99 for that little bittttttyyyyyy bag!LOL! I haven't tried any specific low carb products except the slimfast or advatage pre mixed drinks that i drink daily. i stick with straight protein and occasional salads/veggies. i was just craving something crunchy that day. i have heard about the low carb dorities also...can't wait to see what they charge for those!

Alot more than the regular ones...lol and they are horrible. An occasional "crunchy" snack will satisfy you trust me....I could Kill a whole bag of cheetos, totillas etc pre-surgery...Now 6 chips and I am done...and i feel satisfied.

I actually like the crunchers, even ate them as a pre-op. Funny how each of us are different in our tastes. Mary

Kelly, I'm here now (just after midnight). Not enough hours in the day right now to get everything done. Yes, the crunchers are expensive. Irks me too. Trader Joes has them a little less expensive I believe than Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. I also found them at Gelson's. I actually like the taste and think they are very similar to chips/crackers. Even Hal will eat them. But they are mine, all mine!!!! LOL. I eat maybe 1/2 a bag now ... and only buy them occasionally. Mary

My husband is doing low carb as well and he wanted some candy so i went to Walmart to look. The brand I picked up had 2 types side by side - one low carb and one sugar-free. The low carb was 60 cents more than the sugar-free and get this - it is the exact same candy! I compared ingredients and nutritional facts and it was the same. You pay more for the low carb label.
