Hair Loss anyone???
Well I just noticed in the last week that my hair is coming out in handfuls. Anyone else out there experiencing this problem??? I went yesterday for my 3 month check up and I am down 58 pounds. The doctor was really pleased and so am I. She told me to increase my protein and that should help with the hair loss. So I guess I am going to have to schedule another protein shake during the day. It's so hard to get in all my water and eat during the day, PLUS I'm never really hungry. I dunno, I will try my best and hope that this hair issue doesnt last long. I really shouldnt complain considering this is my first complication (if you could consider it a complication) since weightloss surgery and I do count my lucky stars every day how blessed I am that I didn't have anything go wrong.
I just noticed today when I was shampooing that it was coming out in handfuls. It started earlier this month, but my PCP said it was because I was "starving" and he asked me to try and up my cals per day (I'm averaging about 1000). He also gave me precription pre-natal vitamins to take and said that the loss was normal, but it I remembered to eat and take my vitamins, I'd be alright.
Oh - my surgery was 2.3.04, and I'm down 80 pounds (give or take 5 for PMS week)
I keep expecting mine to start coming out any day now but so far it isn't. i will be 3 months on the 23rd. i have very very fine hair and keep it short so it looks fuller. i have had friends who had the surgery who lost a lot and some who lost none so i am keeping my fingers crossed. i am faithful about my daily centrum chewable, my protein shakes, and i take 2 Biotin each morning. Don't know if this helps at all but i am going to psych myself up that it does and hopefully my hair loss will be minimal. Othewise, I am already saving for the wig!
Karie, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I am at work and sometimes i have to interrupt my board lurking to do actual workLOL! I will check tonite but i think they are 1000mcg and i take two a day. i do indeed have a couple of friends who did not lose any noticable hair. now i will stress these were friends with pretty thick hair. i think this hair thing is just the "bad" that some of use go through as a part of the surgery. If it really got that bad and it was noticable i don't think that many women would be doing it...the majority of us are just too vain... so i am going to hope for the best but expect it so if/when it does happen i am ok with it.
I think it's just started in the last week. Today I took a blob out of the shower twice and had to wipe off the sink 3 times before I finally got done. Eeeek! I'm taking 2 biotin every morning and I'm good about the vitamins, protein, etc. so I guess I'm just one of those doomed to lose.
I told my husband if it gets really thin, I'm going to cut it extra short and color it so that people just go "Hey, did you do somethign different to your hair?" instead of "wow...your hair is getting thin."
