I'm really getting tired of meat, and I'm tired of being constipated. There is only one time of the month where I'm regular. I think it might be worse right now, because of the sinus meds. I'm on. Just wanted to vent and see if anyone else is sick of being a meat eater. Deb -45

Hi Deb, I'm sorry you are having trouble. Can you eat other protein sources like chicken, seafood or turkey? I still can't eat meat except maybe in a little bit of chili. I wish I had some good advise for you. Hang in there. I'm sure things will get better,Deb. Linda L.

Deb, I eat a lot of shrimp and fish, turkey, chicken, lamb ... no beef. I also like cottage cheese, cheese, edaname (soy beans), yogurt, protein bars etc. so give myself a variety. Someone posted that constipation could be easily cured by a little sugar alcohol each day!!! (not recommending this, I just think of it each time someone posts about constipation). I haven't had too much problem with it since surgery, but if I do I find that Benefiber really helps me. Mary

I, too, am using the benefiber. I have found that just a couple of doses of this and it really helps. I should do it regularly but unfortunately, i tend to wait until i haven't gone for a few days and then use it regarding meat: i am still sticking pretty much with deli type turkey, chicken breast, shrimp, i can eat the ground beef in a taco bell taco but to eat a grilled hambuger just does not go down.....so i will wait a few more weeks and try again.

Hey Girl! I haven't gotten tired of meat yet. My favorite is ribeye steak! But I did have a constipation problem. Now I am not recommending this by any means...it just works for me. I bought the Blue Bunny Carb Freedom Ice Cream at SuperWalmart (my fav is the mint chocolate chip) and a few times a week we have san ice cream cone. We bought the cones with the flat bottoms (forgot the name) cause they have no sugar and I think only one carb. I put about 1/2 cup of ice cream in it (can't believe how small it is) but it is perfect size. I have that at night for a dessert and in the morning...viola! tastier than benefiber, more fun to eat, I can use the calories cause sometimes I don't get enough, and makes me feel human again. I can have ice cream. Of course it is only 1/2 cup...DON"T OVER DO IT! You'll pay if you have more than that. Hope this helps some. Joanne -56 Shoot, been doing this for a while and lost 6 lbs this week.

Ice cream definitely made me go to the bathroom prior to surgery. I'll give it a try. Thanks, Debbie -45

If you don't want to eat meat, then don't eat meat. I find that I dislike the taste and texture of meat now after my surgery. I won't eat beef or pork at all now. I very rarely eat some fish or chicken, and about once a month, I have a serving of liver. This summer, I might try some venison or bison when I am at my mom's house. The rest of the time I eat tofu, beans, lentils, cheese, yogurt, and other non-meat protein sources. I have no problems getting in my daily protein requirements, and my stomach certainly feels better and everything seems to move much better through my system now, too. For those rare times of constipation or difficult stool, I eat a prune or a salad. That seems to do the trick.

I'm not sick of meat, but I'm sick of ground meat! And I would just kill for a salad. Saw the doc yesterday for my 3 month check up and specifically asked about salad. No.. no raw veggies yet. And what I'd give for a pickle. Who in the world would ever think I'd kill for a salad!!! By the way, I consider myself lucky. Before surgery ice cream was my big downfall and now the thought of ice cream doesn't do a thing for me!
