Just wanted to say HI to all of you. This is my first time here. I had my RNY on Feb. 26 and have lost 50 lbs. so far. I'm starting to get cravings for foods I don't and can't eat. What can I do? HELP!!! Thank you all.

Hi Michelle, Welcome to the site. I have been here for a couple months before my surgery on February 23rd. I am 10 weeks post op and I haven't had to much cravings for sweets and stuff. When I do feel like something I have some Sugar Free Lemonade or Crystal Light. Even try a popsicle or some Jello. I heard you can have sugar free and fat free whipped cream that would be good with Jello. Also try some no sugar added applesauce it is good mixed with some bananas.I have started eating fruit in the cans with no sugar added that seems to help those cravings too. My problem is getting enough liquid. My labs came back that i was dehidrated so i am working on that.I have had a cheesburger from McDonalds and that goes down smooth some things though give me pain or if i don't chew enough. Good Luck ~ Jill

Michelle, Are you eating high carb foods at all like rice, pasta, bread, potatoes? If yes, these can cause food cravings big time. I find both now and as a pre-op that I did so much better with being in control when I eliminated these things from my diet. Are you bored? Boredom can increase our appetite too. So keep busy, get out of the house ... anything to keep your mind off food. Are you drinking any caffeine items (coffee, tea, pop)? If yes, caffeine can greatly increase the appetite. Mary
