What am I doing wrong???? I have been on a plateu for the last month!!!! I am so disappointed. Don't get me wrong I am happy with what I have lost so far, 44pds since 2/11 but a plateu for 1 month!! I read about others who have lost a lot more and wonder if I am doing something wrong.

Hi Chris Try not to worry (easier said than done). I had surgery on 2/3/04 & this past 2 weeks my scale is moving oh so slow & it is so frustrating. I copied a "plateau breaking diet" off of the main message board & it makes sense because of the make up of foods listed. Of course make sure you are getting tons of water & try to increase your exercise if possible. Also, my understanding from other posts is that a lot of times we are losing inches when the "poundage" doesn't always show up, so you may want to follow that also, it helps keep you from getting discouraged when that stubborn scale won't budge. Congrats on the weight loss so far You are doing great I hope this helps. God bless. 1 - Do this for 10 days to break plateau 2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day 3 - You must have 45 grams of protien supplement and all your vitamin & mineral supplements each day 4 - You may consume up to 3 oz. of the following high-protien foods, 5 times a day: beef pork chicken turkey lamb fish eggs low-fat cheese cottage cheese plain yogurt or artificially sweetened peanut butter beans/legumes You may also have: sugar free popcicles tea or coffee sugar free sodas sugar free jello broths and bullions crystal lite drinks 6 - IF IT IS NOT ON THE LIST YOU CANNOT HAVE IT FOR 10 DAYS 7 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 min of exercise daily. PS, I didn't do the coffee or soda. My doc says not to. Of course, you may have to tweak this some if there is something on here that conflicts with your surgeon's guidelines. Angel

I'm sure you are not doing anything wrong. Sometimes our bodies just need a break to rest and recupe. Are you getting in a minimum of 60 grams of protein a day? You need that to maintain your muscle mass. Remember too that your heart is a muscle. You might want to check your calories intake. If it is extremely low, your body could be slowing down your metabolism to compensate. If that is the case increase your calories with protein etc. Hope the plateau breaks soon for you. Mary

Thank you so much for your replies and encouragement. Angel I am going to try the plateau breaking diet you noted. Mary I just tried a pair of pants that use to, well, fit very tight and they are loose!!! Yeeepee, talk about encouragement. I led out a scream of joy. My husband ran back into the room thinking something bad had happened. He, he, he.
