Good Morning Kate . . . I have a medic-alert bracelet; however, I don't really think that it is necessary. I think it is up to what makes you feel comfortable. I bought mine for like $7.00 (including shipping) at makemethis.com & I had inscribed on it - my name, address, phone & RNY Gastric Bypass - No Scope Use NG Tube. Here's the thing - I was talking to a paramedic friend of mine & he told me that they don't even use scopes. I suppose it might be helpful for the ER - but who knows - lol. I figure I paid $7 bucks for it - so it's not like I wasted a bunch of money. Congrats on the awesome weight loss!!! Amanda -37

I just bought a BEAUTIFUL bracelet! Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3836&item=4109276740 The med alert symbol is discrete which I really like. The back of mine says this: GASTRIC BYPASS NO NG W/O TUBE SUGAR INTOLERANT DR: 800-504-9567 The reason I put sugar intolerant is because I heard that sometimes the fluids they pump through you contain a high level of glucose. I'm sure that I'll enver need to use the bracelet but it's so pretty and does make me feel safe. Plus, it's a daily reminder of one of the best decissions I have ever made - having the surgery. Good luck! RNY LAP 2/18/04 422/350/150 - 72 lbs as of 10 weeks post op.

I'm a firm believer in medic alert program. I have used it for years as I have allergies to drugs and a few other issues I would want a doctor to be aware of IF I was ever in an emergency situation. We (hubby too) joined Medic Alert Foundation https://www.medicalert.com One of the things I really like about them is that they also store my person to notify in case of emergency, my doctor's name and phone number and my medical history. I've added to my account: RNY gastric bypass surgery Do not place NG tube blindly (some choices are on-line, but if you call they have more specifics that can be added) MedicAlert Foundation is one of the world's largest nonprofit membership organizations with one mission - to protect and save lives.
