Here's some additional information I found surfing the internet: Caffeine is a stimulant, and has an effect on your central nervous system, your digestive tract, and your metabolism. Also according to Intellihealth, "in high doses, caffeine can cause rapid heartbeat, irritability, insomnia and anxiety in some people." Caffeine has at times been associated with various illnesses, such as heart disease, infertility miscarriage, and fibrocystic breasts. While there's strong evidence that caffeine has major effects on both body and mind, however, there's a lack of clear scientific evidence to prove the cause-and-effect nature of some of the relationships with diseases. if carpal tunnel, or other nerve and swelling-related problems are plaguing you, you might want to consider cutting out the caffeine It's known that caffeine causes urinary excretion of calcium. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) (JAMA, 26 Ja***** p. 280-3) found that "There was a significant association between (drinking more) caffeinated coffee and decreasing bone mineral density at both the hip and the spine, independent of age, obesity, years since menopause, and the use of tobacco, estrogen, alcohol, thiazides, and calcium supplements [in women]. The decreased bone density could be offset for women who drank milk on a daily basis." thyroid-info.com/articles/coffeecalcium.htm Mary

Thanks for the info Mary, you are so good!!! I do understand all of these things. I don't just drink coffee and soda, I drink plenty of water (no less than 64 oz a day) and crystal light, cranberry juice, lots of stuff. Soda is not everyday. I was just saying, I have things once in awhile that I shouldn't.....i'm not an angel!!! And some of you are so good........wish I was as good!!! Keep up the good work!! Tracie -63 lbs

Tracie, Trust me, none of us are perfect in this journey. I posted the additional information because someone asked about calcium problems being caused by caffeine. I wasn't critizing and hope you didn't think I was. I love doing research on the internet and found lots when it came to caffeine. I haven't been able to do caffeine for years because of other health issues. I can do a bit of chocolate so that is my vice, only now it is sugar free or in a protein bar ... yummmmm. Mary
