Hi Everyone, Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!! I am going to try to get a picture of myself on here really soon!!! I am 3 months out and down 63 lbs!!! And feeling great!!! OK, let me share a few things!!! As I have been reading on here, some of you are all so good, doing everything you should, eating right, excercising, protien and all that kinda stuff. Good job guys, but I need to be honest, I don't think i'm all that good!!! I don't excercise, I haven't found the time (I know, an excuse), I eat what I can, with what means that are available at the time! I don't plan my meals through out the day, I just go through the day. I do watch my carb intake, and eat my protein first, which is good right? I drink diet soda! I drink coffee with creamer (carmel vanilla!!!...so good). I guess, I'm not dieting, just eating alot less with less carbs!! I work all day 8-5, 2 sons, and a husband, a boyfriend....(ok, no boyfriend, just joking)....anyways, you get the picture, I know it is an excuse but my day starts at 5 am (sometimes 4 am) and finishes about 11 pm..........it is a really good excuse isn't it? lol........ Where are all you at today, this stage in our lives? Tracie - 63 lbs

Well, you made me feel guilty and now I must confess! I am rarely able to find the time to exercise either! Although I am trying to fit it in there throughout the day... doing things like parking far away in parking lots, and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. It's a start, right? Keep up the great weight loss! Melissa 282/227/180

Ditto! I'm bad....very bad. I made a good start by going to YMCA and I actually did very well, but I can't seem to get going back. Maybe this week.....I promise! Julie

i am one week shy of 3 months - am 65 pounds down. i do walk for exercise. i too am drinking diet sodas. i was hoping i'd not like the taste anymore, but i LOVE diet dr. pepper. i do eat carbs, but eat protein first. i've tried some sugar free candy & cookies - have to be careful because they have a "laxative" effect. which is sometimes okay..... i'm trying not to whack myself when i eat too much or eat the wrong thing. i have the rest of my life to figure this out. last night, i saw myself in a mirrored wall -- i really do look so much thinner. that was good, because i usually can't "see" what i look like....

Tracie, As a pre-op who never exercised, I started out slowly. If I was watching TV and a commercial came on, I would get up and dance during the commercial. At first just a couple of minutes did me in. Then I could do it longer. The more I made it a habit, the easier and more enjoyable it became. Then we found an exercise bike that was easy for me to ride and I got hooked. I really don't plan meals except that I make sure I have things in the house I can eat. We eat out quite a bit on the weekends and once in a while during the week. I always have cottage cheese, cheese, thin sliced chicken deli meat in the freezer, protein bars in the house. So I can always find something for breakfast and lunch. Dinner I try to cook during the week and have been using the slow cooker a great deal. Really helps with the meal planning and my husband likes the recipes too. Mary

Just a reminder about caffeine: It can increase your appetite. It can irritate your tummy. It can cause dehydration. Be careful when using it on a regular basis. I haven't been a caffeine drinker in years (no coffee, no tea, no pop with caffeine) and I gave up Diet Pop (all pop actually) over a year ago. Even convinced my husband to give it up. Haven't missed it at all surprisingly. I know many drink pop with no problems and many surgeons agree it is OK. My surgeon said no caffeine or pop. Mary

Hi Mary, Thanks for the idea about the dancing around through commercials, I don'****ch TV very much, to busy, but it gave me an idea , very small amounts of time will help just fine!!! Like when i'm waiting for my kids to finish their bath, I can dance around for that couple of minutes, or when dinner is cooking, I can dance in the kitchen...........Thanks much!! Tracie
