Joanne, Good for you for avoiding sugar. The only thing I have tried is a bite of my husband's ice cream. Definitely didn't want to see what would happen if I had more. I would rather assume I dump then find out that I don't. Mary

Nice to see someone else is up. I can almost bet that I wouldn't dump on sugar. But I really have no desire to find out. Breads are my demon. When we go to a restaurant, I have to make sure they don't bring hot rolls to the table. I don't think I could handle that. Tonight we had low carb pizza. It was pretty good. One whole pizza per person but I only ate 1 1/2 slices. The slices are very small cause it is the size of a personal pan pizza.

It's only 9:50 pm here, so yes I'm still up. Yes, I have had a small piece of low carb pizza too. Personal pan pizza size too. It was good too, thin crust. I can't handle too much bread, but am satisfied with a bite. I gave up bread for 6 months before surgery so still feel pretty mu*****ontrol. Actually would rather have the protein over the bread and my tummy knows it limits. Mary

It's 12:45 and time for me to hit the hay but I still want bread. I don't eat it. But I want it. I think the one thing that keep sme away from it is that it will fill me up and give me nothign in return. I feel guilty if I don't eat protein. I miss potatoes, rice, pasta, breads. I did have low carb pasta yesterday that was pretty good. But I ate my steak first in case there wasn't enough room. At this stage, I can eat about 3-4 oz of meat, 1/4 cup low carb pasta and 1/4 cup veggie. I think that is too much though. What do you think?

I can eat 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of food and that's it. The densier the item, the less I can eat. Cottage cheese maybe 1/3 to 1/2 cup. I think each person is different on how much they can eat. I think you are making good choices and not over doing it. Mary

My eating seems really erratic right now. Sometimes I can't each much, others I can eat alot. Last night's dinner was about 3 oz. of veal parmesan, 4-5 bites of spaghetti, 4-5 bites of salad and the soft middle of a piece of garlic bread. That's alot, I think, but it's not really many calories when you post it on Fitday. This morning, I could barely get down 1.5 oz. of cheddar cheese. I still eat carbs some, if I have the room after the protein. I've had a chili/cheese potatoe from Wendy's (obviously, I didn't eat the entire thing!); I have 1/2 a dinner roll when we go out to dinner; I eat 4-5 wheat thins with tuna or egg salad. I avoid rice like the plague because so many people have said it causes them problems; I'm just plain scared of it. I'd think you're eating fine. If my calories drop much below 800-900, I stop losing weight. Generally I stay between 800 - 1025 by tracking on Fitday. It's on the higher side when I'm really pushing protein. Julie

Julie, I understand totally. Some days I can eat a lot more than others. Some days I am satisfied with 3 meals, other days 5 (all mini meals of course). I'm trying to get all of my protein in with real food plus a protein bar. Have been counting protein rather than calories etc. Mary

okay, I'm really bad....beat me. But I know I don't dump on sugar. I've experimented. What's interesting though, is that it takes very little to satisfy me (like 3-4 M&M's) and I don't crave it like I used to. I can bake for the family and not want it. I actually made Rice Krispie squares for my grandaughter Monday night and I've only eaten one since then. I DON'T generally keep sugared stuff in the house though, and I've also provided myself with SF candies, etc. for when I AM craving something so I have better alternatives. I'm glad to know that it won't make me sick, but I'm not so foolish as to make my life unreasonably difficult. Julie

Wow! I'm impressed. The one time I tried steak, I got 3 bites down before I KNEW it was coming back up. And it hurt...so I haven't tied it again. Everything else is fine. Julie

My favorite proteins are shrimp, cheese, and Wendy's chili. I thaw a half cup of frozen baby shrimp and eat with a bit of ****tail sauce. I love any soft cheese. I also enjoy about 1/2 a small serving of Wendy's chili. I eat other proteins like peanut butter and also eggs. My tastes still seem to change a lot at this point. Linda
